Eutelsat’s German direct-to-cable platform KabelKiosk will add documentary channels Discovery Channel and Animal Planet to its offer on September 1.

The services will be part of pay-TV package “FamilyXL” which will then contain a total of 25 channels. The line-up includes 13th Street, Animax, AXN, Sci Fi, Cartoon Network, Gute Laune TV, History, National Geographic Channel, Kinowelt TV, Silverline Movie Channel, Travel Channel, NICK Jr., Romance TV, BBC Prime and E! Entertainment, amongst other channels.

Discovery Networks, the parent company of the two new additions, lifted its exclusive binding to pay-TV operator Sky at the beginning of July. Discovery Channel continues to be onboard the offer compiled by Premiere’s successor, but can now also be seen on competing pay-TV platforms.

Animal Planet was not integrated into the Sky bouquet, but gained carriage on other platforms, for example Unitymedia and Telekom Austria’s aonTV. Negotiations are underway with further platform providers.
