KDG reaches 842,000 pay-TV subs

Germany’s largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland KDG ended Q2 with 9.1 million connected homes, of which 842,000 took a digital pay-TV service.
The total number of RGUs (Revenue Generating Units) was 11.7 million, an increase of 650,000 on the previous year.
KDG also had 787,000 broadband internet customers and 797,200 telephony homes. The number of pay-TV subscribers meanwhile rose by 22,800 to 842,100.
The pay-TV RGUs, coupled with Digital Access RGUs, contributed to a total of 2.1 million digital video RGUs, as opposed to 1.8 million a year earlier.
When taking Sky Deutschland subscribers into account, the digital TV penetration amounted to approximately 21%.
KDG has also reported an increase in turnover and profits. The former was up 12% year-on-year from €329.2 million to €367.2 million. EBITDA meanwhile rose from €134.1 million to €158.5 million. The company reported a net profit of €5.5 million.
Based on the figures for the second quarter, KDG expects the total turnover of the company to grow between 5-7% to a total of between €635 million and €645 million for the year.
KDG also expects to have over 1 million telephony and broadband customers before the end of the year.
