Lionsgate-backed Asian channel operator Tiger Gate Entertainment says it will stage further channel launches in Singapore and Hong Kong this year, following the roll-out of its two services, action channel KIX and thriller/horror channel Thrill to three platforms in Indonesia.

KIX and Thrill are now available on Sky Visionís Indovision and Okevision as well as DTH platform Aora. Launches in Singapore and Hong Kong will be followed by other Asian territories in 2010.

The company says the channels have been specifically designed to target the largest (action) and fastest-growing (horror/thriller) segments of the Asian filmed entertainment market. As well as content from Lionsgateís 12,00-title film and TV library, the channels will also air new Tiger Gate-produced programming. This will include feature films and reality TV series, with the company planning also to distribute the content in cinemas, on DVD and on third-party TV and new media platforms around the world.

William Pfeiffer, CEO, Tiger Gate Entertainment, said: "Even in todayís challenging economic environment, the pan-Asian pay television market offers tremendous opportunities for branded channels that distinguish themselves from the competition with a targeted approach, a long-term vision and distinctive, compelling programming. It is a demonstration of the appeal of action and thriller/horror content that we are able to launch our channels on three platforms in quick succession with distribution set to expand extensively in the coming months. The Asian pay television market is growing at double digits annually and is expected to reach nearly $50 billion in the next five years. The KIX and Thrill entertainment brands are positioned to resonate with Asian audiences for decades to come as they become innovative, game-changing market leaders."
