Beginning the season with a 2.6% market share in August vs 1.5% one year ago, M6’s digital-terrestrial subsidiary W9 is boosting new season schedules with a nationwide singing contest and UEFA Europa League football.

Open to people from 16 to 99 years-old, The X Factor, will be FremantleMedia France’s French version of international hit format from ITV. The show will be broadcast from September to November once a week in prime-time.

Besides music, which now represents 60% of its schedules, W9 will also offer TV series, US TNA Wrestling catch competition, and sport programming. Another key point of its season will be Europa League football matches, which M6 Group has acquired rights to. The first match, between French teams Lille and Valence, will be broadcast on September 19.

W9 is now level pegging with leading DTT channel TMC (TF1/AB for the most popular DTT-only channel by audience share.
