GSAT-4 Launches In 2 Months

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has started the assembly process for the launch of GSAT 4 , India's next telecommuniccationn satellite slated in the next two months. So far the first stage of the GSLV launch vehicle, with four strap-on motors has been assembled while the assemby of the second stage is to start soon. The third stage which is a cryogenic one, is produced at ISRO's Thiruvananthapuram facility. This will be the first ime Indioa will be launching a rocket with a locally made cryogenic stage.All previous GSLV launchs included a Russian made cryogenic stage.
As for the payload, the 2 tonnes GSAT 4 will carry a multi-beam Ka-band transponder and navigation payload in C, L1 and L5 bands. The satellite will also cary a scientific payload called TAUVEX, comprising of three ultra violet band telescopes developed by Tel Aviv University and EL-OP for surveying a large part of the sky.
