OTE expands Conn-x TV to four new cities
Greek telco OTE has expanded the availability of its IPTV service 'Conn-x TV' to four new cities, bringing the total number of Greek cities where the service is available to 33 (up from 25 announced in July).
The new cities where Conn-x TV is available are Grevena, Ioannina, Corfu and Preveza. The service is also available in the cities of Athens, Piraeus, Thessaloniki, Patras, Larissa, Heraklion, Rethymno, Chania, Rhodes, Naxos, Kos, Thira, Siros, Trikala, Xanthi, Kavala, Drama, Serres, Komotini, Alexandroupoli, Veria, Giannitsa, Edessa, Katerini, Kilkis, Kozani, Volos, Kastoria and Florina.
OTE reportedly intends to offer Conn-x TV to all major cities and prefecture capitals in Greece by the end of this year. The service offers over 40 live broadcast channels, including Universal Channel, Fox Life, Discovery Channel, Nat Geo Wild and KidsCo; as well as two video-on-demand services ('FilmExpress' and 'FilmClub'); and two exclusive sports channels - 'Conn-x TV Sports1' and 'Conn-x TV Sports2', offering coverage of sports events from around the world as well as coverage of the Spanish, German, Italian and French football leagues.
The telco announced earlier this month that Conn-x TV will become available to customers with ADSL connections of 2 Mbps, as well as those with connection speeds of 8 Mbps and 24 Mbps. The company also plans to extend its triple-play footprint by offering satellite TV services in 2010, according to Informa Telecoms & Media's Intelligence Centre research portal, using capacity on Hellas Sat.
