New digital terrestrial receivers from Sagem and Servimat carrying the Canal Ready logo have been made available at French retail. The devices are capable of receiving the free-to-air DTT broadcasts, but viewers can upgrade to Canal+ and other pay channels.

The Sagem DTI85PB HD is currently available with a special promotional campaign promising buyers a €30 mail-in rebate from the manufacturer. In another promotion, the Sagem ST7105 is now sold for €129.99 with a “non-binding” offer to all Canal+ and CanalSat channels.

Servimat will also have two Canal Ready sets in the shops, the TSV6500HD (for HD broadcasts) and the TSV6000 (for SD reception). Both receivers should be in the shops by the end of the year.

The Canal Ready receivers offer access to all terrestrial Canal+ channels, Canal+ HD, Canal+ Cinema and Canal+ Sport) and channels available from CanalSat (TF6, Paris Première, LCI, Planète and Eurosport).

In order to promote its premium business, Canal now offers short-term “trial” subscriptions, which people can cancel after a month.
