Mobile TV service launches in Polish capital

INFO-TV-FM, the company chosen by Polandís Office of Electronic Communications to offer mobile television, has begun offering broadcast services in Warsaw.

The company is seeking to market the service through the various mobile telephone operators in Poland, though none have expressed a committed interest in offering mobile television on telephones. INFO-TV-FM offers many television channels, including TVN, TVN24, TVP, PULS, TVSilesia, Kino Poland, radio stations such as TOK FM, Roxy FM, Radio Zet and RMF FM. The operator plans to provide expanded television services as well, which would include Polsat channels, Eurosport and MTV Polska.

INFO-TV-FM plans to make mobile television available in ten cities throughout Poland by the end of the year, including in Lublin, Plock, Zielona Gora, Koszalin, Elblag, Walbrzych, Wloclawek, Kalisz and Slupsk.

Transmitters and towers located in Warsaw make the mobile TV service already available, without a mobile telephone service provider, but with the use of a special tuner available in certain Nokia, LG or Samsung telephones.
