TeliaSonera orders FTTx solution from Cisco
Swedish telco TeliaSonera is deploying a point-to-point fibre-to-the-x (FTTx) solution based on Cisco's IP Next-Generation Network (IP NGN) solution, enabling the telco to deliver symmetrical broadband speeds of up to 100 Mbps, with the potential to be increased to 1 Gbps.
The new Cisco solution is expected to make it possible for TeliaSonera to deliver advanced new services to consumers and businesses over a single next-generation platform, including multi-room IPTV and video-on-demand, high-definition video conferencing and low-latency connectivity for data centres.
"Triple-play and TV have been huge successes for us, and we chose a point-to-point fibre network that meets the rapidly increasing bandwidth demands of our customers," said Ove Alm, Chief Technology Officer for TeliaSonera. "The Cisco solution not only gives us the ability to meet future demands, but also provides us with the scope to bring differentiated services to market quickly, supported by a scalable, cost-efficient, high-quality network."
