Ethiopia’s state-run TV to expand coverage

The Ethiopian Radio and Television Agency (ERTA) is to construct 34 new TV transmitter stations in all parts of the country within the coming few months to expand its broadcasting capacity. About 18 are to be constructed by the Ministry of National Defense Force’s company, Kality Construction, with the remainder to be done by Defence Construction, which is also under the ministry.

According to sources, Kality will subcontract the work to former employees who have established their own construction firms. Early last week the construction firms representatives discussed with its former employees about the project and requested them to take them on.

The work includes offices and basement works for the transmitter tower erection. Sources said that project should be finalised within four months’ time for the beginning of the construction.
