Kärnten TV, a regional television channel from Austrian federal state Carinthia, will be available via satellite from November 13.

The service will be distributed on Astra (19.2° East) in APS Astra Platform Services’ digital package with the signal being unencrypted. Kärnten TV will use the broadcasting slot of fellow Austrian regional TV channel Tirol TV, with daily transmissions from 9:30 – 10:00 CET, 18:30 – 19:00 CET, and from midnight until 00:30 CET.


Kärnten TV, launched in August 2008 and operated by the state of Carinthia in collaboration with commercial service providers, covers local news from the fields of politics, economics, research, sports, culture and society as well as presenting events and tourism offers. The channel, which was until now only available as a web-TV offer at w/w/w.k/a/er/nt/en.tv, also envisages cable carriage and wants to launch on DTT multiplexes.


Using Kärnten TV’s move as a model, regional channels from Upper Austria, Salzburg and Lower Austria also want to distribute their programmes via Astra from December

Austrian regional channels go Astra

This Friay, the Austrian regional broadcaster kaernten.tv will add satellite distribution to its streaming internet presence. In December, RTV Salzburg sill also start broadcasting from the Astra satellite.

Until now, kaernten.tv was available on the web and on cable, but now satellite distribution on Astra at 19.2 degrees East is added. the broadcaster will share a channel with another regional broadcaster from the country, Tirol TV. Also, the local channel hopes to gain carriage on the regional DVB-T network

RTV Salzburg is a private -public partnership serving 119 communties in nthe region of Salzburg. The channel start broadcasting this week and will add Astra distribution in December.
