Dead Humax 5400Z

I recently purchased from Victoria via Ebay a Humax 5400z

The box arrived undamaged and in apparently good condition.

When I turned it on nothing very much happened no lights nothing, however
after five minutes or so it outputed a signal to the television telling me that
it was receiving no signal.
This was fair enough as I had not connected it up to the dish.I turned it off
connected it to the dish then turned it back on.
(The dish runs my satellite computer card okay.)
Nothing, no lights,nothing, occasionally if you turn it on and catch it by surprise the standby light blinks.
I have tried loading that "cleaning" software you have on your site but the
box will not accept an input from the computer.
I don't know anything about these things, the vendor swears on his mothers
grave that it was okay when it left his place,but it looks to me at the very least to be dodgy software.
Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Welcome, Great to see you, I will copy this thread to the Humax section, and, with luck, some of our GURUs will be able to help you.
A lot will depend on what some nut has tried to do with it.
First of all, Which SAT are you looking at?
Have you got a card inserted for the encryption of that SAT?
Have you ascertained the Transponder Frequencies and symbol rates?
What sort of LNB are you using?
If it is one of the Optus SATs, it needs a preset SKEW, which may be different to what you have.
Does it cater for Horizontal and Vertical Polarity?
Needless to say, there are many variables apart from the above.

replace the power supply as this causes the problem with slow starting unusual light flashing and the no signal pic

seems to me that the power supply is not working well .
take it out and try to see if the diod is not burned i thing thats z03 on the plat .
i leave you the full plan of the powersuplly normaly you just need to change the diod or the condensator ........... i will send you fotos as well the points marked whith pens usualy give problems
i whish you a good repair its easy and cheep total cost for about 2 euros
