can some one please explain what is timeshift function in most pvr boxes . how can i skip adds in recording i mean without stopping the record is it possible

Timeshift : somebody ring on the bell or incomming call press one button and the match is recording on HDD.
When you want to see the match juste clic a button, the record start from beginning of the pause...

In clear that means that you are able to begin a recording of a game or of a film and start looking the film or the game from the beginning ten minutes, or whatever time, later. Meanwhile the recording is going on...
