"activating or waking up dead cards with dvbapi and OSCam alone"
Thought I would share this with you. If you have a card that has expired entitlements, then without doing the following, it will be difficult updating it with on air updates, because the card will only process a few requests and if the requests are being refused, it will stop processing them. I just activated up my new MTV Unlimited card this way.
there is an oscam.dvbapi file. you need to edit this file.
for my MTV card, i entered the following;
P: 0B00:000000 1 so for s*y it would be
P: 0963:000000 1 the above entry means prioritise CAID 0B00 with provider 000000, with the '1' at the end being key, as it will process ECM and EMM requests without timing out, thus eventually processing that essential EMM. This can apply to all cards, so long as the 1 is at the end. This would be good for pay per view. Now just remember to add a dvbapi entry in the oscam.user file and oscam.conf file, and not block EMMs in the oscam.server reader entry. With certain providers, it is an idea to block unknown and global requests, but for the sake of my MTV card, I allowed all. Here are my reader and account entries for my MTV Card, so you can just adjust the above and below to suit your card.
in oscam.user
[account]
user = dvbapi_qboxhd
pwd =
group = 1
monlevel = 0
au = 1
(remember that the entry next to user will be different depending on your receiver - for me it is dvbapi_qboxhd)
in oscam.conf
[dvbapi]
enabled = 1
au = 1
boxtype = qboxhd
user = dvbapi_qboxhd
(again boxtype and user would be different for most of you!)
in oscam.server
[reader]
label = upper_slot
protocol = internal
device = /dev/sci1
services = mtv
showcls = 0
detect = cd
mhz = 500
cardmhz = 357
group = 1
emmcache = 1,3,2
lb_weight = 101
I hope this helps some people because the information on dvbapi is a bit sketchy out there. I bought an old s*y box to wake up a white card a few months ago, and I only needed to type '1' on one file, and I would have saved a tenner!

Latest N.V. file killed my card
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've writed the latest n.v. file on
my blue card, like I always do.
I could watch the channels. Afterwards ... I wanted to test another file, and came to the conclusion that I don't have any ATR
anymore. With a little hope, I've tested: BDC_ATR_Restorer.
But that also didn't help. There's Didem_ATR__Restorder or something ? But I can't find it
So it was damaged or it was a killing-bomb
I've downloaded it from the Yellow site.
