Hi SatKiwi,

I've purchased a Cisco Anomaly Guard last month and results are very good, during attacks the guard performs tests on incomming traffic and if they are malicious it will drop the connection before it reaches your server. if the attacks are small you could try mod_evasive for apache or ConfigServer Security & Firewall which performs great on low rate attacks.
Bigger attacks should be handled before reaching your server or it will kill it.

how you can handle attacks ?? you're using a simple "shared" hosting. There are more than 1063 website on the same server, and you're probably renting an "essentiel hosting" plan for 8$/month.
So if your website is under attacks, you can do nothing because you don't have shell access.

Shared hosting accounts usually gets null routed when under attack to prevent downtime for other customers on the server but there are some hosting providers that offer DDoS protection.
Another thing you could do is using a proxy guard service. then you point your domain to the proxy guard service and they filter the bad traffic for you. but those services are expensive.

Hello,
All you said sounds correct but it means having a good knowledge of networking and security.
But the hosting plan used by SATKIWI is a basic plan with a basic protection.
Someone who has good knowledge will take a VPS or dedicated server, specially to make an e-commerce website.
This is my point of view.
