Dreambox and how to use it "for bigginers"

I- Information necessary and useful to a good start for bigginers In the dreambox:

• The required equipments to use:

- Cable RS 232 female female.
- cable RJ 45 straight or crossover (depending of the configuration of your network)

- Programs:
1- DreamUp (to flash the receiver with the cable network without RS232)


2- Flashwizard Pro (to flash the receiver with the RJ 45 via cable network )


3- DCC: dreambox control center (prog that handles ftp, telnet and webbrowser)


4- Gemini images (images must be decompressed for the installation)
5- DreamboxEdit for installation channels and satellite.


6- Winrar to unzip files downloaded before use.

- Dreambox Control Center "DCC": essential tool to drive the dream since his PC, transfer files...more informations:

- Flash Wizard (french): To manage your multiboot, install the "images" in flash memory or the HDD / USB stick to the dream...more informations:

- Dream Up: little utility to flash the dreambox 7000s with a cable RS232 (null modem) more informations:
*Do not use the Windows notepad or wordpad to edit / write file the dream. Use the editor included in dcc*
- DreamBoxEdit Fr version and Eng to manage / edit / edit your channel lists, favorites and bouquets

III-In this discussion, I shall gradually as explanations for beginners on how to use the Dreambox programs:

- for a first flash it is advisable to use instead of DreamUp Flashwizard it is a bit slow but it is more effective for the first time
* USE OF DreamUp:
- Disconect the dreambox sector and connect the cable RS232 of the dream to PC.
- Open DreamUp:


- Put into port: com1
Local IP (PC) the address of your pc (for the address of your pc type in cmd to run the command: ipconfig /all)
Like this:

- Here the IP address of computer. is 192.168.1.10
IP Box is optional)
- Click on connect.
- Connect the dream to the sector, the horizontal scroll bar is filled (from left to right).
- Click right button marked "flash" fetching official images or CVS LZMA compatible, and click ok.
- It takes several minutes...
- Flash update finished, click ok.
- Unplug the dreambox sector, and reconnect it.

IV-What is the Flashwizard PRO 6 and how to use it?

- as I explained Flashwizard is a utility designed to automate the updating of images in flash and multiboot image on a USB stick or an internal hard drive to the Dreambox.
You've already configured your network between:
1- your PC and your dream:


2- Or via your router or switch / Hib


Now:Flashwizard PRO 6: Installation of an image in flash.
Open Flashwizard on the PC:

**To flash or restore an image on your dream click on the yellow folder icon to put the image here or open a folder then pick the image or official CVS and follow the instructions.

Flashwizard for images on USB Stick:

You can install multiple images on the USB stick you want an image to be the start of your dreambox.
Here you need a hard drive in your dreambox and enter USB stick
If you have a boot image in the memory of dreambox
and you want to install other on a USB stick, we must first put the stick behind the dreambox.
When the LED control stick flashes, it opens Flashwizard and configure as mentioned above, and go in the same window in utility, format the stick
Click format USB stick then choose part 1 and type OK
Click on the button install or remove a firmware in multiboot
Click on the yellow folder (top right) to "Ask the photo here, open a folder" choose the directory where the flash image is located and choose between stick stick or SD, after restoring the image reboot Retry your dream.

V- Instalation:

Before:


On your PC You must that :
- You've downloaded winrar.
- You have downloaded DreamUp, Flashwizard, DreamboxEdit and DCC.
- An image to install, I chose Gemini here: Gemini Images free Gemini Images, download Gemini Images, Gemini Images free download
(this site you can choose your gemini image depending on the version of your dreambox and other images that gemini).



-These are compressed files
Run winrar, then clik on a compressed file such as drumup

- Open the yellow folder by double click, select the executable file and go in the menu bar of winrar, choose "Wizard" and follow the instructions DreamUp be unzipped into a new folder called DreamUp,
do the same thing with Flashwizard, dcc, DreamboxEdit and the chosen image. (gemini for example).

• First installation:

*For initial installation, use DreamUp, you don't need to network, and it is less risky than flaswizard (follow the instructions listed above # 2) Once the image is successfully installed,
make position engine on your satellite dish position satellite (eg Astra 19.2°)
- put the dream on. Your dream reboots, and windows will appear and where you need to answer:

Here: choose the English language (you can later install an addon for the French)



Here: choose DiSEqC in this moment:

choose Astra 19.2°, then transponder scan and finaly scan star.
Wait several minutes for it to install the transponders and channels of Astra 19.2°, at the end tap OK and another window opens that asks if you want to scan another satellite, this time press the red button (not), choose a free channel to see if you succeeded or not.

• Network configuration:

*If you have a router, you must install to get at least connection on your PC.
- Go to the Start menu, Run, type in (cmd) then in black window at the DOS prompt type in (ipconfig / all)



- It gives you an IP (Internet Protocol) to your PC here (192.168.1.10)
The IP address of your router here: (192.168.1.1)
- Press the menu button on your remote, then with left scroll right button menu choose (setup), click on OK.



- A window opens, select (Expert setup) then (communication setup) a window opens:



- In IP address to choose a form 192.168.xy, x and y must be between 0 and 255. and it will be the IP of your dream.
Here is 198.162.1.15.
Netmask: 255.255.255.0 (subnet mask)
Type: lan
Nameserver: the IP of your router (here: 192.168.1.1)
Gateway: the same (192.168.1.1)
- Tick (Enable network) port 80 already configured on your router (tcp)
And press the button labeled green (save) and then reboot your dream.
After the start of your dream in the Start Menu (Run) (cmd) type at the prompt back
Ping (ip)
For example:

ping 192.168.1.10 (ip of pc)
ping 192.168.1.1 (router ip)
ping 192.168.1.15 (ip of the dream)



*If everyone lost = 0 so it works, if not retry the process.
- This is now your network is configured.
You can now use Flashwizard to format your stick, format it and install a multiboot image (see above # 3) and you can use DCC to make sure that your network is configured:
After decompression of DCC, run it:
- clik on the button configuration copy the IP in the proper locations and in :



Name, enter root
and passw type dreambox
If your network is configured, you will see green and not red.

VI- INSTALLATION OF SATELLITE BY DreamboxEdit:

You can install using satellites (menu / configuration expert / search satellites)
You can form bouquets, by using (Menu / Start a bouquet /) then select the channels to put in a specific bouquets, but it is a long and tiring ..
But there is a simpler method using utility DreamboxEdit provided you have a file and satellite bouquets borrowed from a friend. Or files downloaded from the net.
This is an uncompressed file entitled "ENGINE BASED March 22" that contains several satellite (for satellite-powered)

*Run DreamboxEdit after downloading and decompression as mentioned above (# 1):



*it must be configured according to your network, clik on (optional) and a window opens:


IP Address IP address of your dream for me is 192.168.1.15
Http port: 80 already configured on your router (tcp)
Username: root
Password: dreambox
FTP port 21 configured in your router also (tcp)
You can test your IP and your password if it works save this configuration in the end.
Now go into the menu bar and clik on (open) and search for the folder of BASE 22 MARS MOTEUR (the satellites services file), select it and tap OK. 'Opens:
*The DreamboxEdit will load the file and the window will be as follows:



- On the right column you have (Cinema, discovery, music, children sports, bouquet satellite Astra, Hotbird ...)bouquets, On the near column: the selected channels of the bouquet; bouquets with red clumps are sensitive for children that you can lock or delete,
*To lock or delete a bouquet or a channel, you must select it and press the right mouse button and a window opens and then make your choice.



* To transfer these services to your dream, it must first be saved in a file such other changes, go into the menu bar then click on file and save. then go to the menu bar and clik on (FTP):


- Go to the right button of the window that appears (Reload the settings in the dreambox)
- Let scroll the window down, if the results are good, click on the button (Send the file to the dreambox).
- If the result of this manupilation is good, watch the message and reboot your dream,
- After startup, press OK, the program window opens, press the green button , you'll see that all selected satellites are transferred:



- Press the exit button, then press the blue button to select the bouquets:



and all selected packages are transferred.

VII- Engine configuration:

*Let's talk about the configuration of the engine using a manual or automatic positioner (It means connected to your receiver)
But first you must know the position in space, in another sense, be aware the positions of satellites in space.
This is a representation of the relative positions of several satellites:
Arabesat (26°Est), Eutelsat 2 F3 (21,5°E), Astra (19,2°), Hotbird(13°E),AtlanticBird (5° west), Nilesat (7° O)
*Your satellite dish is installed, your positioner is connected to your engine, and it is on, and we are positioned on Astra, *remember it was an example*.

• MANUAL POSITIONER

1-If you have a manual positioner:
STEP 1:
-Press the main menu of the Remote controle.
-Choose settings in the selection
-research programs
- Then choose Settings Satellite:



Next go top in the window and select: Many satellites via DiSEqC Rotor.
Several satellites will appear, choose the satellite that you don't want to install to erase.
By pressing each time the red button, and save using the green button, then exit.

Choose the viewfinder window satellites (SATFind)

• AUTOMATIQUE POSITIONER

2- If you have an automatic positioner connected to your receiver

- Read and run step 3, with the difference to move your engine, you must go to direction on "Stop" and use the arrow keys (right and left) of the remote, and to memorize the position of the satellite, press the button Green and assign an N°:

*your positioner is configured.

**Tips & Tricks of the dreambox**:

• To reboot the Dreambox, press 3 buttons on the front of the Dreambox.

• When you insert a smartcard remember that the chip must be BELOW.

• The Dreambox can play MP3 audio files and Ogg Vorbis, and present images on the hard drive, USB or Compact Flash cards. These plugins are available via the Internet on most images directly from the menu dream. If you insert a CompactFlash card, it will be mounted automatically into / hdd to boot, so be careful if you enable a swap file.

• If you type into your Internet browser the IP address of your Dreambox (http ://192.168.0.24) in his
  case), you can change channels remotely, see the EPG, make screenshots and OSD...

DCC:
Open your program and click on the top left configuration
Now you see a window with a PC, a router and a dreambox
If your dreambox is connected directly to your PC (FJ45 crossed) right click on cross at the top left, pats on the tab below the pc 192.168.0.1 and click reconnect, then click on the tab below the dreambox and slaps 192.168.0.5 click search, you'll see a window and you choose the ip 192.168.0.5
