Moscow, 28 February: The Arabic service of Russian [state] news channel Russia Today (RT), Rusiya Al-Yaum, which broadcasts an open signal via Nilesat (AB4) satellite, is being jammed in Libya, the channel’s press service reported on Monday [28 February].
“There have been attempts to jam Rusiya Al-Yaum channel’s open signal on Nilesat (AB4) satellite, the RRsat - Global Communications Network satellite television provider said. In company representatives’ view, problems with the Russian channel’s Arabic service signal are due to the Libyan authorities who are trying to stop citizens from accessing independent, objective information about developments in the country and the Middle East,” reads the television channel statement.
