SCHALKE: MAN UTD WANT NEUER
Schalke have claimed Manchester United are keen on goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and "would have to look into details" if there is a firm enquiry.
The Red Devils are expected to be in the market for a new keeper in the summer when Edwin van der Sar retires.
Germany international Neuer has been mooted as one of the candidates to replace Van der Sar at Old Trafford after impressing in recent seasons.
He is under contract to Schalke until 2012 and the Bundesliga club are determined to hold on to the 24-year-old.
However, Schalke's resolve could be tested in the summer after the club's chief executive Clemens Tonnies claimed an agent has declared United's interest in Neuer.
"I have been approached by an international player agent, he gave me information about Manchester United being keen on Manuel Neuer," Tonnies told BILD.
"We would have to look into the details if we were to receive a written enquiry from Manchester."
If United decide Neuer is their top target to replace Van der Sar, they are likely to face fierce competition for his signature from Bayern Munich.
