Jim Jefferies - looking to boost Hearts' squad.
    JEFFERIES HAPPY WITH HEARTS BUDGET

Manager Jim Jefferies appears set to bolster his Hearts squad this summer after revealing he would be happy with half the budget at his disposal.
Hearts have been linked with a host of players out of contract at the end of the current campaign, including Kilmarnock's Mehdi Taouil, Aberdeen's Zander Diamond, Inverness' Adam Rooney and John Sutton, who is set to line up for Motherwell at Tynecastle in Saturday's Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash.
Jefferies would not be drawn on specific targets but is thrilled with the support he is getting from Hearts' majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov.
He said: "We can compete with anybody outside the Old Firm.
"If they halved it (the budget) it would be healthy, very healthy.
"If he (Romanov) wants to chuck more money at it, it gives me more to play with."
Jefferies has identified possible targets, but knows many more players will be linked with Hearts.
He added: "There's no guarantee I'll get the ones I'm after, because there will be other clubs interested.
"I'm getting phone calls every hour about players.
"Hearts is a big club and a lot of players want to play here."
Jefferies hopes to add to his squad and believes goalkeeper Marian Kello still has a future at Hearts despite not currently being considered for selection due to "a private matter".
The 28-year-old Slovakia international will not be considered until the situation is resolved, something Jefferies hopes is imminent.
He said: "I can't discuss an internal matter because there are legal things involved and it's not right to discuss it.
"It doesn't matter what anybody else says. Marian and I have discussed it and it's a decision we both came to."
Jefferies is unfazed by his first-choice stopper's continued absence as Hearts seek to wrap up third place in the SPL.
He added: "We're very fortunate we've got Jamie MacDonald and Janos Balogh who are two exceptional goalkeepers so it's not disrupted us in any way."

    Terry Butcher - budget frozen.
    BUTCHER BUDGET STAYS THE SAME

Inverness manager Terry Butcher will set about reshaping his squad in the coming weeks following budget talks with chairman George Fraser.
Butcher's budget will be unchanged from this season, but some players will leave this summer as he looks to bring new signings in.
The likes of Adam Rooney, Chris Hogg and Stuart Duff are out of contract at the end of the season and Butcher is set to begin talks with his players.
Butcher, whose team take on St Johnstone in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at McDiarmid Park on Monday night, said: "The chairman has been on record saying that the budget has been frozen as the same, which we knew about. We had a good chat.
"We know what we want to do, it's now a case over the next few days of telling players what we want to do and what their futures are.
"We are trying to narrow down who we want to keep on because 15 players are out of contract."
Butcher has challenged his players to retain seventh spot in the SPL to give them a boost for next season, which begins on July 23.
"The boys will be eager to get back into it because we will have one or two signings we would like to get in," he said. "But the boys have been great all season.
"We want to finish the season on a high. Players are playing for bonuses and pride."

    McCann - wants regular football.
    McCANN EXPECTS HIBERNIAN EXIT

Hibernian full-back Kevin McCann expects to leave Easter Road in the summer when his contract expires.
McCann has not made a first-team appearance since November after picking up a knee injury during a loan spell at SPL rivals Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Though the 23-year-old is fit again, he has been overlooked by Colin Calderwood and has not been contacted about a new deal.
With plenty of competition at right-back in the Hibs squad, McCann is now focusing on ensuring other clubs are aware he is fit and available.
"I'm fit now and training hard so I'll just have to wait and see what happens this summer," said McCann in the Daily Record.
"I'm out of contract at the end of the season and I'm just keeping myself fit to try to get a contract somewhere. I've not spoken to anyone at Hibs but I haven't had any chances and I really need to start playing football again.
"I wanted to try to finish this season on a real high but I've not been given the opportunity to do that.
"I've not heard from anyone at Easter Road but I have to look after myself, so I've been speaking to my agent to see what opportunities are there for me.
"People keep asking me if I'm fit and I don't want other clubs to think I'm not fit when I am."

David Trezeguet - eyeing return to France.
    TREZEGUET EYES FRANCE RETURN

Former France striker David Trezeguet has earmarked Lyon as a desirable destination after admitting he would like to play again in France after an 11-year absence as he moves towards the end of his career.
The 33-year-old currently plays for Spanish side Hercules in La Liga after spending 10 years with Juventus in Serie A.
The Rouen-born player has scored 11 goals in 26 matches in Spain this season but he has turned his attention to a return to his homeland for a second stint after five years between 1995-2000 at Monaco.
Trezeguet told L'Equipe TV: "Emotionally, I love Monaco. This is my club.
"But other teams have more ambition, like Lyon.
"This is a club that is ambitious and seeks to win titles. That's what I want to find."
While also describing Paris St Germain and Marseille as "interesting", Trezeguet insists he would be able to come to a financial agreement.

Re: Latest Transfer Update at 23-04-11

Sinisa Mihajlovic - staying in control.
    MIHAHLOVIC GETS VIOLA BACKING

Fiorentina president Andrea Della Valle has confirmed ahead of Saturday's match at Cagliari that coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will remain in charge of the team next season.
A section of club supporters called for Mihajlovic's dismissal during last weekend's goalless draw with Juventus, which followed a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan that all but ended the Viola's faint hopes of playing in Europe next season.
However, Della Valle said: "Mihajlovic is under contract for a further season and he will remain with us."
Mihajlovic, who joined the club last summer as a replacement for Cesare Prandelli, was left frustrated by his team's below-par display against Juve.
"I am sorry for the fans," Mihajlovic said. "We are all disappointed with the result.
"We really wanted to give our fans some satisfaction in what has been a difficult campaign for us with injuries.
"We have always played well against the big clubs, but we didn't against Juve. Now we must turn the page.
"We face a difficult game at Cagliari and we need to be at our best."
Opponents Cagliari are one point clear of 10th-placed Fiorentina heading into Saturday's match at the Sant' Elia stadium.
The Sardinians have also struggled this month, winning just one of their previous six encounters.
They threw away a 3-1 lead in a 3-3 draw in Lecce last weekend, much to the disappointment of coach Roberto Donadoni.
"You cannot throw away two points like we did," Donadoni said. "We had the win in our hands and we let Lecce get back in the game.
"I hope my players bounce back immediately and show the right focus and determination from start to finish against Fiorentina."
