Carlo Ancelotti - expected to be sacked.
    ANCELOTTI SPECULATION INTENSIFIES

Carlo Ancelotti might want to remain at Chelsea but speculation about a new-look coaching set-up at Stamford Bridge intensified in the wake of the club's crushing Barclays Premier League defeat at Manchester United.
Ancelotti appears certain to be sacked at the end of the season in two weeks' time, with his departure representing the sixth managerial change at Stamford Bridge since Roman Abramovich's takeover eight years ago.
Appointing Ancelotti's replacement may prove problematic, with Abramovich's reported preferred candidate, Guus Hiddink, seemingly uninterested in a return to the job he temporarily filled two years ago.
Unless the Dutchman can be persuaded otherwise, Abramovich may have to look elsewhere, with Hiddink's compatriots Marco van Basten and Frank Rijkaard heavily touted.
Porto sensation Andre Villas-Boas is also among the bookmakers' favourites, along with Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, who would undoubtedly supply the brand of football Abramovich craves.
That could also be the case were Gianfranco Zola to join the Chelsea coaching staff amid reports today that the Stamford Bridge legend is being lined up for a role in any new managerial team.
A change of approach would also herald changes in the squad, with several players likely to depart ahead of the start of yet another summer recruitment drive.
The signing of a creative midfielder to get the best out of Fernando Torres would appear a must and Kaka's name will almost certainly come into the frame during the summer.
Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Jose Bosingwa all have just a year left on their contracts and could quite easily move on, while the futures of Florent Malouda, Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel must also be in doubt.
That quartet all started yesterday's 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford, which as good as killed off Chelsea's dream of the greatest comeback in Premier League title history.
The Blues failed to turn up during the opening 45 minutes as United ran riot and could easily have found themselves more than 2-0 down.
They rallied somewhat in the second half but the final scoreline flattered them as they all but surrendered the title they won last year.
The defeat left them six points behind United with two games remaining, undoing all their hard work over the previous two months to claw back a 15-point deficit.
Chelsea conceded after just 36 seconds yesterday and captain John Terry struggled to explain why they were caught cold.
He told Chelsea TV: "I'm not sure. We were fully prepared and it's one of those things.
"Disappointing day but, going back two months, we would've taken this - being in the position (three points behind United).
"We felt it was in our hands and we could come here and we could win the game.
"Sometimes, you have to hold your hands up."
He added: "We came here hoping and praying that we started well and the role was completely reversed.
"They had a great start and got the early goal, which settled them.
"But, first half, we didn't deserve anything from the game at all.
"I thought second half we came out, we had nothing to lose and went for it and dominated the second half.
"It just would've been interesting to get that second goal and get it back to level terms."
The result left Chelsea on the brink of their worst season of the Abramovich era and Ancelotti was expecting to learn his fate soon after their final game of the season at Everton.
Meanwhile, midfielder Essien has ended his self-imposed one-year exile from the Ghana national team.
Essien controversially put his Black Stars career on hold after suffering two serious injuries.
But he told BBC Sport: "I am fully ready to return to the Black Stars for our next (African Nations Cup) qualifier against Congo in June.
"I still have a lot to offer my country and it never crossed my mind to retire from the national team."

David Sullivan - could be out of pocket.
SULLIVAN: DROP WOULD COST OWNERS £40M

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has warned relegation from the Barclays Premier League would be likely to cost him and David Gold up to £40million more of their own money to keep the debt-riddled club afloat.
The Irons remain at the foot of the Barclays Premier League following the 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Blackburn, which left them four points adrift of safety after Wolves beat West Brom yesterday.
Avram Grant's men now have just two matches left - away at second-bottom Wigan and then at home to Sunderland - which they must win and hope other results go their way to avoid a return to the Football League.
Sullivan and Gold, both lifelong West Ham supporters, acquired a controlling interested in the Upton Park club during January last year.
With ongoing debt issues in excess of £80million, the board have already warned top-earners like England trio Scott Parker, Robert Green and Matthew Upson would all have to be sold were the club relegated.
Sullivan admits seeing West Ham lose their top-flight status would be a difficult burden to bear, both emotionally and financially.
"The fans should know though this club is in a worse financial position than any other in the country," Sullivan told the London Evening Standard.
"All the debts are football or bank debts secured on the stadium and training ground, so there is no route via administration.
"West Ham really is a club where the football and bank debts exceed the value of the club.
"It's a pretty thankless task and the criticism hurts. Should the worst happen, we will have to inject loans of £20-£40million, depending on circumstances, which will probably never be repaid.
"I don't believe the supporters realise the potential real cost to us.
"Nobody out there wants to take on the burden of West Ham United.
"We do, as we are supporters but our resources don't match foreign-based oligarchs who pay no UK tax."
Sullivan and Gold experienced plenty of highs and lows during their 16 years in charge of Birmingham City, but given their personal ties to West Ham, the current plight is an emotional rollercoaster.
"We are not down yet, but I admit it is not looking good," Sullivan added.
"I have been relegated three times before, on every occasion gaining automatic promotion the following season, but this one will hurt me the most if it happens.
"David and I have taken criticism and, should we be relegated, will accept the responsibility."
West Ham hope key midfielder Parker, set to receive his Footballer of the Year Award on Thursday night, will recover from his niggling Achilles problem to make the Wigan game.
Former Chelsea and Portsmouth Avram Grant has seen his position come under scrutiny for most of the campaign, despite only being appointed in the summer.
However, midfielder Jack Collison - who has just returned after more than a year out with a serious knee injury - maintains everyone is pulling together in a bid to keep the Irons up.
"The boys are working hard, the staff have put the hours in, but it is a matter of going out there now and doing it," Collison said on West Ham TV.
"We have talked all season about how we are good enough to get out of it, but the league table does not lie and we have a cup final next week and the following week.
"We need two wins and hopefully that is enough."

Re: Latest Transfer Update at 09-05-11

Arsene Wenger - plans in place.
    WENGER PLANNING FOR THE SUMMER

Arsene Wenger maintains he knows what must be done over the summer to turn Arsenal into champions next season, but insists now is not the time to publicly analyse the Gunners' shortcomings.
It has been seven years since Patrick Vieira's Invincibles lifted the Premier League trophy, with any slim title hopes extinguished in brutal fashion with a 3-1 defeat at Stoke on Sunday.
Arsenal's defensive frailties were exposed again at the Britannia Stadium - most notably when an unmarked Kenwyne Jones bundled home Stoke's opener and also for the third goal following an awful clearance from Johan Djourou which fell straight to Jon Walters, the blunder coming moments after Robin van Persie scored his 20th goal of the season to give the visitors brief hope.
Wenger has been urged to bring in experienced heads during the summer, most notably to help shore up the defence, with the likes of Blackburn's Chris Samba and Bolton's Gary Cahill both reported targets.
However, the Arsenal manager insisted now was not the time to talk about what is missing as his team regroup for next weekend's clash with Aston Villa looking to stay ahead of Manchester City in the race for automatic Champions League qualification.
"We have our plans and we know what we will do," said Wenger.
"It is not the best moment to analyse after a disappointing game, but if you analyse all competitions and how we have done, the number of games we have played, then we have done well.
"We have to take a little bit of distance and make the right analysis of the season."
Full-back Bacary Sagna accepts Arsenal need to "be a bit more killer" when they come up against physical teams, but insists those answers can be found on the training pitch and not just necessarily the transfer market.
Wenger - who had to do without first-choice centre-half Thomas Vermaelen for most of the season because of a niggling Achilles injury - accepts things cannot go on the way they have.
"On set-pieces we have been caught and Jones didn't even have to jump to head the ball - that is something to correct," he said.
"It is the easiest thing to correct in the game, but you still must understand the flight of the ball and want to be first and have some experience.
"I feel sometimes we are a bit naive."
Arsenal currently lead Manchester City by five points in the race for automatic Champions League qualification, but the FA Cup finalists could reduce that to just two if they beat Tottenham at Eastlands on Tuesday night.
Despite failing to last the distance in the title race, losing the Carling Cup final at Wembley and also suffering early exits from the Champions League to Barcelona and FA Cup at Manchester United, Wenger maintains the campaign has not been a complete failure.
"Many would like to be in the Champions League but it is not enough, certainly, but the season has not been for nothing," he said.
"It could have been a lot more, but you can see it is the toughest league in the world and we were very close, but we have to add what we miss."
As well as looking to bring in some new faces, Wenger could also be, however reluctantly, willing to now let the likes of goalkeeper Manuel Almunia, Denilson, Nicklas Bendtner, Gael Clichy, Andrey Arshavin and Emmanuel Eboue all leave over the summer following a string of frustrating displays when handed a first-team chance.
Even though Wenger has been charged with adding some experienced steel to the spine of the squad, the Arsenal manager continues to be linked with developing young talent.
Borussia Dortmund, however, have rebuffed any suggestions they would be willing to sell teenage midfielder Mario Goetze after the 18-year-old helped them secure the Bundesliga title.
