Arteta - wants Everton to boost squad.
    ARTETA: EVERTON MUST STRENGTHEN

Mikel Arteta believes Everton must strengthen over the summer if they are to start fulfilling their potential.
The Toffees are set to end the 2010/11 campaign in seventh spot, a place higher than they finished 12 months ago.
There is, however, a feeling around Goodison Park that they should have done a lot better.
A slow start cost the club dear and has prevented them from challenging for European qualification.
Arteta admits that issue needs to be addressed and feels bolstering the ranks is the only way the Merseyside outfit are going to improve.
"I think we need to strengthen the squad a lot to get better," the Spanish midfielder told Sky Sports News HD.
"It's been a really strange season. I don't think anybody is happy with the way it's gone.
"We have been very inconsistent, having really bad results and then doing really well against the big teams. It's been a strange season."
Asked if a seventh-placed finish was a sign of progress, Arteta added: "For me, it's not. I think everybody was expecting a much better performance this year from the whole team, and we haven't reached it.
"Even if we finish seventh, I don't think we should be happy with it."
Club captain Phil Neville also believes that additions need to be made by David Moyes, but insists there is no need for a squad overhaul.
He said: "I think it's something you need to do, you need to keep adding to the squad. We have done that every season since I have been at the club. It provides competition for the players and keeps the players motivated.
"As players all you need to do is look after yourself because we have faith and trust in the manager and chairman to provide what the team needs."
On the direction Everton are heading in, Neville added: "Last season we finished on a real high and everyone was going into this season in really high spirits. We're a position higher this season and the feeling is a lot more subdued.
"But I still think the club is going in the right direction and I think the future is really bright. The foundations are strong and it's up to the players now to perform better."

Phil Bardsley - backs Steve Bruce.
BARDSLEY HOPES BLACK CATS BACK BRUCE

Sunderland full-back Phil Bardsley hopes club owner Ellis Short will continue to back Steve Bruce.
The Black Cats have endured a disappointing end to the season after looking like they may qualify for the Europa League earlier this term.
However, a wretched run of injuries at the club coincided with a poor series of results that saw them tumble down the table.
Yet, despite the poor end to the season, the Sunderland Player of the Year wants the American owner to stay loyal to Bruce.
"The manager has had some stick but he has done a great job," said Bardsley.
"He is the perfect manager. He has bundles of respect for the players and the players respect him for what he has done in the game.
"The last few months have been difficult and have not worked out as we would have wanted or planned, but he has dug in and made sure the players have done the same."

Re: Latest Transfer Update at 20-05-11

Mancini maintains Tevez wants to stay at City.
MANCINI STANDS FIRM ON TEVEZ FUTURE

tRoberto Mancini is standing by his claims that Carlos Tevez will remain at Manchester City.
The Blues manager caught most observers on the hop immediately after Tuesday's 3-0 Premier League win over Stoke when he claimed Tevez had told him he wanted to remain with the Eastlands outfit.
Within 24 hours, the picture had become more clouded, with Tevez's representatives privately claiming the striker had said nothing of the sort.
Even senior figures within the club wonder whether Tevez's trusted advisor Kia Joorabchian is trying to find an alternative suitor, who would be willing to pay the vast transfer fee and wages the South American would command.
However, as he looked ahead to Sunday's trip to Bolton, Mancini was adamant Tevez is not about to make his final appearance for the club.
"I don't think it will be Carlos' last game," said Mancini.
"On Tuesday, I told you all my opinion and I am sure about this. But I can't continue to have a press conference to answer this question.
"I have spoken with Carlos. I have spoken with him many times in the last weeks and I don't need to speak with him again."
Mancini is not entirely convinced about quotes emerging from Argentina, attributed to Tevez, that the former West Ham star views his future as being elsewhere.
"I don't know if he has said these things," he said.
"Sometimes I have spoken to journalists in Italy and when the comments come back here, it is something completely different.
"I understand it can happen because of the translation.
"We have many important players; Carlos, Yaya Toure, David Silva, James Milner, Nigel de Jong. We want them all to stay here."
Meanwhile, Mancini has ruled out the chances of making a big-money move for Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
After two seasons without any significant silverware since he moved to Real Madrid, it has been claimed Ronaldo is ready to leave the Bernabeu.
A £150million price tag is said to have been put on a player who cost Real a world record £80million when he left Manchester United following the 2009 Champions League final.
But Mancini laughed at suggestions he might be interested.
"We have signed Cristiano Ronaldo for £200million," joked the Italian.
"I said after the FA Cup final, I would like to sign Ronaldo, Messi, Fabregas and Iniesta. I don't think it is possible.
"I don't know why this has come out. I don't know anything about it.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is a fantastic player but I don't think he will leave Real Madrid."
Mancini also says he wants his squad sorted by the time the new season starts.
City's attempts to secure a top-four spot this term were hampered by the delays in players returning from the World Cup and the protracted attempts to capture James Milner from Aston Villa.
Having overcome that handicap to secure a Champions League place and end City's 35-year trophy drought, Mancini is already turning his sights to next term.
And, by the time his players re-assemble for pre-season training at the beginning of July, he wants all the business done.
"I want to have all the players when we start the season, not afterwards," he said.
"Pre-season is really important. We had some problems this year because we didn't do a pre-season. All the players arrived after the World Cup, five days before the start of the Premier League.
"To have all the players back when we start pre-season on July 5 is important for us."

Re: Latest Transfer Update at 20-05-11

Ancelotti - would accept sacking with no problem.
    ANCELOTTI: SACK IS NO PROBLEM

Carlo Ancelotti has insisted he would shed no tears if he is sacked by Chelsea after Sunday's final Barclays Premier League game of the season at Everton.
The Italian confirmed this afternoon that a meeting would be scheduled next week during which he looks set to lose his job.
Manager Ancelotti continued to maintain he had no idea whether he would be given the sack but that he would have no problem if he was.
He said: "The club have to judge my job - be objective.
"If they decide to change, it's not a problem.
"You won't see me crying or doing something. I will accept the decision of the club and find another 'solution'."
Ancelotti's week could not have been more different to this time last year, which included an open-top bus ride to celebrate the club's first ever double success and saw the Italian take to the mic for a rendition of "Volare".
Ancelotti admitted he never imagined he would find himself in the firing line 12 months later after overseeing Chelsea's worst season of the Roman Abramovich era.
"No, but this is football," he said.
    "I'm not surprised about this.
"When I started my experience here in England, if someone had told me that we would win the FA Cup and the Premier League in two years, I'd have been happy.
"In these two years, I have to be happy because the team, last year, was fantastic.
"This year was not so good. But we can learn from this experience to do better next season."
Despite suffering such a dramatic reversal of fortune, Ancelotti insisted he was still able to enjoy the campaign.
"I am happy when I work, and so I have enjoyed this season," he said.
"I trained for 15 years in this work and, sometimes, I was able to win. Other times, I was not able to win.
"But every time I was happy at the end of the season because I'd worked.
"Sometimes I'd worked well, other times I'd made mistakes. But this is my work. I want to stay and maintain my work."
After failing to win a trophy, that is highly unlikely to happen, with Abramovich having sacked the previous two managers who did likewise.
Ancelotti was brought in partly because of his reputation as a Champions League specialist, with Abramovich craving success in that competition more than any other.
Despite nearly masterminding the greatest comeback in Premier League title history, Ancelotti's fate was arguably sealed when Chelsea failed to reach the Champions League semi-final for a second successive season.
The Italian hinted at the significance of that defeat when he revealed his best and worst memories of his time in charge.
"The best memory was the (Premier League) victory against Manchester United (last season), and the worst the defeat against them in the Champions League."
If this is to be the end, Ancelotti has learned plenty from his two years in English football.
"I think every time, every experience, it's important to learn and improve your experience, your knowledge," the former AC Milan and Juventus boss said.
"This season was nothing special. We had problems, as we had a lot of times in my career.
"We were not able to win the league as we did last year, but we didn't play at our best.
"But we're still in a good position - we were able to reach second place."
Despite appearing to be a lame duck manager in charge of a team which has nothing to play for on Sunday, Ancelotti urged his players to end the season with a flourish.
"On Sunday, we want to play at our best," he said.
"It will not be easy because the last week of training when obviously there are not a lot of aims to reach, it's not easy to maintain concentration and stay focused.
"But we want to try our best against Everton and finish the season well."
And the Italian was adamant that whoever was in charge in August would have a squad capable of winning the big prizes once again.
"I think this team, to maintain their position at the top, doesn't need to spend a lot of money," he said.
"We spent a lot in January on (Fernando) Torres and (David) Luiz, and Ramires last summer.
"We won't need a lot of changes to stay at the top."

    Houllier - planning ahead.
    HOULLIER LINES UP TRANSFER TARGETS

Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier is already drawing up plans for next season while he recovers from heart surgery - but he will not attend Sunday's home clash with his former club Liverpool.
Villa caretaker boss Gary McAllister maintains that Houllier is continuing to make good progress after a month's recuperation.
He believes that "everything points" to Houllier being back at the helm next season although any binding decisions will take place at the end of the campaign.
But the Frenchman has already earmarked a list of potential targets and players who may be leaving the midlands club this summer.
McAllister said: "Gerard is very good. I've seen a lot more of him in the recent week or so.
"He is up and around and popped up to the training ground the other day and had some chats with the chairman and the chief executive.
"He is a lot better. He has ventured away from home which is good.
"There was a wee whisper about Gerard coming to Sunday's game and he was half thinking about it but he won't be there."
McAllister added: "All the decisions will be taking place after the final game of the season and we see what our final league position is.
"Then we will try and start putting things into operation. It's going to be a busy time getting organised for next season.
"The full schedule for pre-season training has been done and Gerard has got all these lists of targets and decisions on players who might not be part of the plans moving forward."
When asked if Houllier had spoken to him about next season, McAllister said: "Absolutely. Everything that Gerard says to me points to him being here and that's just the way he is."
McAllister, a former Liverpool player, believes Villa will not require a radical overhaul of their squad as he reiterated the desire to keep Ashley Young who has one year left of his contract.
He said: "Gerard is keen to get two or three of his own players in but in previous seasons at this club before we arrived, there were some good finishes here.
"It won't need a great deal of surgery. We feel we need two or three players adding to what we have got.
"If you watched us last week at the Emirates (winning against Arsenal) that suggests that's the case.
"It's not major reshuffling but, like any manager, he wants to bring his own players in.
"They are players that can push on and press the philosophy of Gerard to his younger players and everybody here."
Regarding Young's future, McAllister said: "We are doing everything we can to keep Ashley Young.
"He has got a year left of his contract so we are still holding the aces but we appreciate that there are people interested.
"It's been well documented but Aston Villa are trying to keep him here."
