Satellite operator SES has confirmed that all is on schedule for the launch at 23:45 CET on 1 July 2011 of its new ASTRA 1N satellite.
Built by EADS Astrium in Toulouse using a Eurostar E3000 platform and to be launched from the Guiana Space Centre in French Guiana onboard an Ariane 5 ECA rocket, ASTRA 1N offers 52 Ku-band transponders and will first provide interim capacity at 28.2° East.
SES says that Once the initial position has been attained, the satellite will moved to 19.2° East, from where it will mainly serve the German, French and Spanish markets.
