    Alberto Aquilani - 'missing link'.

Liverpool owner John Henry has given misfits Alberto Aquilani and David Ngog hope of extending their Anfield careers.
Aquilani spent last season on loan at Juventus after being loaned out by then manager Roy Hodgson, even though the Italy international had looked like finding his form towards the end of the previous campaign after a long time out with injury.
His days at Anfield appeared numbered, despite manager Kenny Dalglish being a fan of his ability, with plenty of speculation linking him to a move back to his homeland.
However, Juventus were not interested in signing the 27-year-old permanently and he returned to Merseyside for pre-season before flying out with the squad for their matches in China and Malaysia.
The Italian, whose £17million signing by Rafael Benitez was ridiculed in many quarters because of his poor injury record - he actually arrived at Anfield with an injury - impressed in Saturday's 6-3 win over a Malaysia XI.
Ngog has been nothing more than a back-up striker since arriving at the club from Paris St Germain for £1.5million in the summer of 2008.
He has been linked with a number of Barclays Premier League clubs but a goal against Guangdong last weekend and his two in Kuala Lumpur have caught the attention of Henry.
Liverpool's principal owner, who was also impressed by Aquilani against the Chinese side and joined the squad out in Malaysia, believes the midfielder is making a difference in pre-season.
"One missing link last year: Acquilani (sic)," Henry wrote on Twitter.
"Put the ball near Ngog and the goal and it's going in. Too much talk of them somewhere else."

Odemwingie - has been linked with a move.
WEST BROM AIM TO KEEP DUO

West Brom have confirmed that contract talks have begun with key pair Peter Odemwingie and Youssouf Mulumbu.
Speculation has suggested that both players could leave this summer after attracting the attention of other clubs with their performances last season.
Odemwingie is thought to be wanted by several leading European sides, while Mulumbu has been linked with Fiorentina.
However, technical director Dan Ashworth has dismissed the reports and reiterated that neither man is for sale.
Ashworth said of the duo: "We have been in discussions with both of those players about extending contracts.
"We want to keep our best players, add to that and stabilise in the Premier League.
"Both of them are on contracts - Peter has two years left, Youssouf three years left, so we decide if anyone leaves.
"Both players have been extremely professional and we've got negotiations with their representatives that we hope will lead to mutual agreements where all parties are happy.
"But our fall-back position is that they are not for sale."

Fuller - wants new Stoke deal.
    FULLER EYES NEW STOKE DEAL

Stoke striker Ricardo Fuller is keen to sign a new deal at the club and finish his career at the Britannia Stadium.
Fuller, currently recovering from a serious Achilles injury, is entering the final year of his contract at Stoke.
The 31-year-old is keen to get back to fitness and win a new long-term contract with the Potters.
"Of course I would like to stay. I have been here five years, this is my home, and I would love to finish my career here," Fuller told the Stoke Sentinel.
"I have been working for that, and what I have done in the past is because I want to stay and finish my career here.
"I play from the heart because I love the place and love the club. I am 31 now and another few years to try to finish here would be great."
Fuller suffered the Achilles problem in April and he has set his sights on a return to action in September.
"It is four to six months to recover (after an operation), but I am healing well so the end of September would be four months.
"I am geared up for that, but if not then it would definitely be by the end of November."
