The number of Portuguese DTH subscribers amounted to 671, 000 in Q1 this year according to ANACOM -the national official association for the telecommunications and the audiovisual sectors.
This means that 1,000 more homes were added than in the previous quarter and 7,000 more than in the same period last year.
In addition, the Association underlined the fact that that the DTH market now claims 23.9% of the total pay-TV market in a country a segment dominated by cable TV which has a 50.9% share. According to 'Tele Satélite' the northern and central regions represent two thirds of the total DTH clients.
