Abu Dhabi media organisation twofour54 has been granted a satellite transmission licence by the UAE’s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA).

Mohamed Nasser Al Ghanim, the TRA's director general, said: “Granting this new licence comes in line with TRA's efforts to develop the telecommunication sector, and encourage as well as promote competition among operators in order to reach to the best possible level of optimised services provided to users.

“We are confident that the new licensee has the abilities and required technologies to enrich our telecommunication sector.

“We are looking forward, in a systematic and well examined manner, to increase the number of licensees who enjoy the ability of providing quality services that contribute in improving the performance of the telecommunications sector.”
