James McClean: Linked with Wigan switch
    DERRY CLAIM LATICS WANT McCLEAN

Derry City winger James McClean is attracting interest from Wigan, according to the club's chairman Philip O'Doherty.
The Latics are in the market for midfielders after agreeing a fee to sell Charles N'Zogbia to Aston Villa and having seen Tom Cleverley return to Manchester United after his loan spell ended.
Whether the 22-year-old McClean could fill the subsequent void remains to be seen, especially as it seemed the player was on his way to npower Championship side Peterborough only to fail to agree a contract.
"The club and Peterborough had agreed a package but it has broken down due to personal terms," O'Doherty told the Derry Journal.
"But sometimes these things seem like they've broken down when they haven't.
"Wigan, even though they haven't made a formal offer, are interested and being kept up to date by the agent.
"Wigan had expressed a serious interest in James, they spent a lot of time checking him out and they may well rekindle their interest now N'Zogbia's gone."

    Nathan Dyer: Swansea contract talks
    SWANSEA HOPING TO KEEP DYER

Swansea are hopeful Nathan Dyer will soon sign a contract extension at the Liberty Stadium.
The 23-year-old is in the final 12 months of his current deal and there has been speculation he could eventually follow Dorus de Vries and Darren Pratley, who have left the Premier League new-boys as free agents.
But manager Brendan Rodgers has been holding talks with Dyer and he is optimistic Swansea's 2010/11 Supporters' Player of the Season will agree a new long-term contract.
"Having spoken to Nathan, I know he felt last season was the best season of his career," the Swansea manager told the South Wales Evening Post.
"He knows the areas where I think he can improve on what he did last season, the areas that can add more value to him as a player.
"But he is still young at 23 and I feel he is playing in a system and for a football club that are perfect for him.
"Hopefully we can find an agreement on a new contract because Nathan is not a player we want to lose."
Rodgers is also hopeful that Premier League football will help in securing contracts for club captain Garry Monk, Joe Allen and Jazz Richards.
"Hopefully the club will be in a position now to take away that doubt with the players who are coming into the final year of their deals," added Rodgers.
"Obviously the players have to agree new contracts for us to avoid losing them for nothing, but hopefully we will be able to sort them all out."

Cesc Fabregas: Wanted at Barca by Xavi.
    XAVI ISSUES ANOTHER CESC PLEA

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has reiterated his wish to see Cesc Fabregas move to the Nou Camp from Arsenal this summer.
The Spain international angered Gunners manager Arsene Wenger with similar recent comments, when he said Fabregas was "suffering" because he wanted to join Barcelona.
Arsenal value captain Fabregas at £40million, and Barcelona have not met the asking price, but Wenger is also keen to keep his star man.
Xavi appreciates the quality of his international team-mate, who has been a target of Barcelona for several years, having left the club as a teenager to join Arsenal.
"I hope the saga ends," Xavi told German newspaper Suddeutschzeitung.
Describing Fabregas as "a piece of the puzzle", Xavi added: "Cesc is only 24 and his arrival would ensure the current cycle of Barca continues to work.
"I'm 31 and will retire in two, three or four years.
    "I hope he comes."

Vucinic: Expected to leave Roma this summer
    VUCINIC AGENT CLAIMS UNITED TALKS

Roma striker Mirko Vucinic's agent claims to have held preliminary discussions with Manchester United regarding a transfer.
Montenegro international Vucinic, 27, has been strongly linked with a move away from Roma this summer after five years in the Italian capital.
Juventus were thought to be favourites to land his signature and Blackburn were also credited with an interest, while Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini admitted earlier this week a departure was almost inevitable.
United now appear to have emerged as surprise contenders to sign the talented forward, with his representative Alessandro Lucci saying contact has been made with the Premier League champions.
Lucci admits a deal is a long way off being agreed as there is not an offer on the table at present, but he is keen to see how things develop.
"The meeting with the leaders of Manchester United was yesterday," Lucci told lasignoraingiallorosso.it.
"It has only been a chat, in which no offers have been made nor was there an agreement sorted.
"The English club, however, really like Vucinic, but to see him with the shirt of the Red Devils, there is still work to do."
Sir Alex Ferguson has already bolstered his ranks with the signings of Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea since the end of last season and announced on Monday that there were unlikely to be any further additions before the Community Shield on 7th August.

    Emmanuel-Thomas: Makes Portman Road switch.
    EMMANUEL-THOMAS MAKES IPSWICH MOVE

Ipswich have completed the permanent signing of young striker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas from Arsenal.
The 20-year-old has moved to Portman Road for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £1.1million, and signed a three-year contract.
Emmanuel-Thomas has had loan spells at Blackpool, Doncaster and Cardiff and admitted he needed to leave the Emirates to secure first-team football.
"Obviously it came to the stage in my career at Arsenal where I needed to be playing games," he told Town's official website.
"I had a decision to make and Ipswich seemed the right place for me."
The England Under-19 international is Town boss Paul Jewell's second signing of the day after Fulham goalkeeper David Stockdale completed his loan switch.
