Adam Le Fondre: Contract ends next summer
SCOTT: PROMOTION COULD HELP KEEP ALF
Rotherham boss Andy Scott knows promotion to League One would boost the club's bid to keep Adam Le Fondre.
The striker has been linked with a move during the summer transfer window but Scott expects him to see out his current deal at the Don Valley Stadium for the 2011/12 campaign.
Scott confirmed Le Fondre is still not thinking about signing a new contract with the Millers and he hopes success this season will help persuade the former Rochdale forward that he is playing for "a club on the up."
"I'd love to keep him but I think from his position he wants to play at a higher level and we've got to get into League One to prove that we can do that and then kick on," Scott told Sportinglife.com.
"I'd love for him to be in League One with us next year but if we're in League One without him it means we've got the job done and he's helped us to that stage.
"I think inevitably it's not going to be until the end of the season that he thinks about signing a new deal unless something changes.
"We've got to prove to him that this is a club on the up and the right place for him to be.
"I expect him to be here all year and work hard as he has done since the minute I walked in."
