Maarten Stekelenburg: Set to join Roma
    STEKELENBURG SET FOR ROMA SWITCH

Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is waiting to finalise a move to Roma after the two clubs agreed a deal in principle.
Stekelenburg, who has one year left on his contract at Ajax, has been heavily linked with a transfer to Roma throughout the summer.
Dutch champions Ajax have now confirmed that the two teams have settled on a fee for the Netherlands international, who has established himself as one of Europe's most consistent keepers in recent seasons.
"Ajax and Roma have got a general agreement for Stekelenburg's transfer," read a statement on Ajax's official website.
"The agreement with the Italian club is subject to a few conditions."
It is understood that Stekelenburg has agreed a four-year contract to move to the Stadio Olimpico and has undergone a medical.

Jlloyd Samuel: Could join West Ham
SAMUEL TO HOLD WEST HAM TALKS

Jlloyd Samuel is set to hold talks with Sam Allardyce regarding a possible deal after impressing in West Ham's friendly win over Real Zaragoza.
The full-back is available on a free transfer after leaving Allardyce's former club Bolton and featured in Saturday's 2-0 success against Zaragoza.
He could now become Allardyce's fifth signing of the summer after assistant manager Neil McDonald confirmed discussions are set to take place.
"First impressions were really good," McDonald told the club's official website.
"Jlloyd has got a good pedigree and a good CV, so we've got him in, trained him for a couple of days and got a good look at him on Saturday.
"He's enjoyed what he's done and we've enjoyed having him, so I'm sure the manager will sit down with him and see what the situation is later on at the start of next week."
Allardyce has already been reunited with Kevin Nolan, Matt Taylor, Abdoulaye Faye and Joey O'Brien after working with the quartet at Bolton, and the latter completed his move to Upton Park prior to the Zaragoza encounter.
McDonald added: "I think Joey is a decent defender and very good on the ball as well.
"He's big and strong, so he's a great addition and gives us some fantastic competition for places, which is great."

Gavin Gunning: On trial at Scunthorpe
NO DUNDEE UNITED MOVE FOR GUNNING

Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill claims Gavin Gunning has turned down a move to Dundee United as part of Blackburn's bid to sign David Goodwillie.
Blackburn are keen to sign Goodwillie from the Terrors and have already seen a £1.8million bid for the Scotland international rejected.
Gunning was reportedly included in a revised bid submitted by Blackburn, but the defender has rejected the chance to move to Tannadice.
The 20-year-old is currently on trial at Scunthorpe and picked up a thigh injury during Saturday's pre-season friendly against Barnsley.
Knill is keen to sign Gunning, who had a spell on loan at Motherwell last season, on a permanent basis and is now waiting to see what will happen.
"He tweaked his thigh and funnily enough we found out this morning that Blackburn are signing David Goodwillie from Dundee United and Gavin was in the deal, so he was supposed to go there," Knill told the club's official website.
"Gav has decided he doesn't want to go.
"We'll have to wait and see. We'll assess how bad his injury is."

Roger Johnson: Good signing for Wolves
WHO WILL BE THIS SEASON'S BEST BUYS?

The Barclays Premier League returns on August 13 with the new arrivals at each club sure to attract a lot of attention.
Here, we looks at which of those players could be the best buys of the season.
    PHIL JONES (Manchester United)
In a year that has seen young British talent moving clubs for silly money, Sir Alex Ferguson's £16.5million swoop for Blackburn defender Jones looks the most sensible of the lot.
The 19-year-old centre-back has been described by ex-Real Madrid full-back Michel Salgado as "like John Terry but better on the ball".
    GERVINHO (Arsenal)
After scoring a goal every other game as Lille won the French league and cup double, the Ivory Coast striker was relatively cheap for a proven scorer at a reported £10.5million. Aged 24, he made an immediate impact for Arsenal with both goals in a 2-1 pre-season win over Cologne.
    SHAY GIVEN (Aston Villa)
Given is one of the best goalkeepers to have graced the Premier League and at 35 still has the possibility of playing for another five years. A fantastic shot-stopper, his move will make up for Villa's unhappiness at Brad Friedel moving to Tottenham.
    YOHAN CABAYE (Newcastle)
Like Gervinho part of Lille's double-winning team, the 25-year-old France midfielder has been bought to fill the void left by Kevin Nolan.
His transfer fee of around £5million means the Magpies could have secured the bargain of the summer.
    ROGER JOHNSON (Wolves)
In two years at Birmingham he showed himself to be Premier League class and it was no surprise when Wolves bought him for around £7million.
Dominant in the air and a powerful tackler, he should turn out to be an astute buy by Mick McCarthy.

Carl Ikeme: Set for Boro loan switch
IKEME SET FOR BORO LOAN SWITCH

Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray is optimistic he can finalise a deal to sign Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme on loan.
Mowbray is keen to bring in a new keeper before the start of the season after regular number one Jason Steele was ruled out until October due to injury.
Wolves had given Ikeme permission to train with Boro and he played in Friday's 3-2 friendly defeat by PSV Eindhoven at The Riverside.
He appears to have done enough to earn a temporary move to Teesside and Mowbray is waiting for the green light from Wolves to complete a loan deal.
"I'd like to thank Mick McCarthy for lending me him to play," Mowbray told the club's official website.
"One of their (Wolves) goalkeepers has had a slight knock, but if he comes through their game okay then I would be hopeful a loan agreement would be put in place on Monday."
Ikeme has struggled to make an impact on the Wolves first team and has enjoyed several loan spells away from Molineux, including a stint in the Championship with Leicester last season.

Keith Treacy: Set for Burnley move
    BURNLEY TARGET TREACY SWOOP

Burnley have made a "significant cash offer" for Preston winger Keith Treacy, according to the Deepdale club's chairman.
Clarets boss Eddie Howe, who this week saw Chris Eagles depart for Bolton along with defender Tyrone Mears, looks set to recruit the 22-year-old Republic of Ireland international.
In a statement on the Preston's official website, club chairman Maurice Lindsay said: "We made our manager (Phil Brown) aware of the fact that we had a significant cash offer from Burnley for Keith.
"A discussion was held with our owner, Mr Trevor Hemmings, who made it quite clear that we needed to seriously consider the offer to assist the cash problems at the club.
"I have personally turned down three offers from Burnley for Keith but their final offer had to be accepted as it will help the owner to lower his investment and keep the club in business.
"No-one want to sell players who have any quality, as Keith does, but we are in the harsh reality of trying to stay alive."
