TiVUS has rolled out TV ad-insertion technology for an HD IPTV in-room entertainment installation in a 1,408 room Host Hotels & Resorts property in downtown Philadelphia.
It is a move that the company says is unique in the industry in that it gives the hotel a share of the advertising revenue.
"A hospitality industry-first, ad-supported IPTV gives hotels new revenue sources and more programming choices," said Shiva Prakash, Tivus' president and CEO, in a statement. "Hotels can now migrate away from legacy video-on-demand systems, earn significant ad revenue, and increase guest satisfaction by now offering a more home-like experience."
TiVUS remains on-track for a late August completion of the Philadelphia property, with a similar installation about to gear up in Omaha, Nebraska.
The company is a hospitality entertainment services specialist focused on implementing Internet-based TV and cable programming, interactive game content, and goods and services to the hotel/hospitality industry. It says that its differentiator is the ability to let hotels mine untapped income through ad revenue sharing.
