    Enrique: Set for Liverpool move
    LIVERPOOL AGREE JOSE ENRIQUE FEE

Liverpool moved closer to solving their problem at left-back after agreeing a fee with Newcastle for defender Jose Enrique.
The Reds will discuss personal terms with the Spaniard when he arrives on Merseyside for his medical at their Melwood training ground this afternoon.
Enrique, 25, will cost Liverpool in the region of £6million but will fill a position which they struggled with last season.
"Liverpool FC confirmed today that they had agreed a fee with Newcastle United for the transfer of Jose Enrique," said a club statement.
"The club have now been given permission to discuss personal terms with the player, who will travel to Liverpool to undergo a medical."
Enrique joined the Magpies for £6.3million from Villarreal in August 2007 but was in the final year of his contract at St James' Park and had made it clear he would not be signing a new deal.
Providing there are no hitches to the move the defender will become Kenny Dalglish's fifth signing of the summer, following midfielders Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson and back-up goalkeeper Alexander Doni to Anfield.
The Reds boss was unsuccessful in his bid to try to sign Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy earlier in the summer, with the Frenchman opting to join Manchester City, but the Scot has been looking for a long-term solution to a position which has been a source of frustration for a number of seasons.
Former manager Rafael Benitez tried several options with varying degrees of success, with the injury-plagued Fabio Aurelio, inexperienced Emiliano Insua and the woeful Andrea Dossena all trying but failing to hold down a regular position.
His successor Roy Hodgson signed Paul Konchesky from former club Fulham when he arrived last summer but the player was soon found out and lasted only marginally longer than his manager.
Hodgson was replaced in early January and by the end of the month Konchesky had been loaned out to Nottingham Forest and has since found a permanent home in the npower Championship at Leicester.
Dalglish's temporary fix was to give right-back Glen Johnson an unaccustomed role on the left and he performed well, with teenaged reserve team defender Jack Robinson filling in admirably when the England international was injured.
Aurelio, fitness-permitting, and Robinson seem likely to provide the back-up to Enrique which means Argentina international Emiliano Insua, who returned from a season-long loan at Galatasaray this summer, may have to find another club.

Wright-Phillips: Could be heading to Bolton
BOLTON IN TALKS FOR SWP AND TUNCAY

Bolton have confirmed that talks over deals for Shaun Wright-Phillips and Tuncay are ongoing.
Manchester City winger Wright-Phillips knows he will have limited chances at City this term and will be allowed to leave by manager Roberto Mancini.
However, Bolton are unable to match Wright-Phillips' estimated £70,000-a-week wages and, so far, have been unable to find a way of bridging the gap.
Work is continuing though, with boss Owen Coyle admitting he would "love" to have Wright-Phillips in his squad.
"Shaun is a tremendous player," said Coyle.
"He is someone I would love to bring to the club. Whether it is possible, only time will tell.
"There are financial implications involved. Players at Manchester City are on contracts that are more than we could pay. There is a threshold we cannot go beyond.
"But there has been dialogue between our chairman and (City chief executive) Garry Cook. That is where we are at the moment. There is nothing concrete."
Coyle also confirmed talks are further advanced with former Stoke striker Tuncay Sanli, who could be about to arrive on loan from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.
"We are a good way down the line with that but it is not cut and dried," he said.
"He is a terrific player, who really works his socks off."
As yet though, there has been no offer for Gary Cahill, who has been linked with a big-money move to Arsenal for much of the summer.
"I am surprised there has been no firm offer," said Coyle.
"Teams have had six or seven weeks already.
"I totally understand if they have made offers and talks are progressing, but why leave it until the last minute?"
Meanwhile, Coyle said he must plan for the weekend trip to Loftus Road regardless of talks between the Premier League and Football League and various police forces which may yet result in all games being called off.
"We are all aware what is happening in the world but until we hear otherwise we have to prepare as though we have a game," said Coyle.
"We all love football and want the Premier League underway but safety is paramount and I am sure the police and councils will come to the right decision."

    Traore: New deal
    TRAORE SIGNS TWO-YEAR EXTENSION

Bordeaux midfielder Abdou Traore has signed a two-year contract extension to keep him at the club until June 2015.
The 23-year-old Mali international joined Les Girondins in 2008 and was loaned out to Nice last season, making 23 appearances.
A statement today on www.girondins.com read: "Abdou Traore has extended his contract for Girondins de Bordeaux.
"The Mali international has signed for two more seasons. He is now under contract until June 2015. This is great news that the club can count on the talented young midfielder in the coming seasons."

Ferguson: No sign of calling it a day
    CHARLTON LAUDS SIR ALEX FERGUSON

Sir Bobby Charlton has admitted Manchester United will never find the perfect replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Scot will celebrate 25 years in the Old Trafford hotseat on November 6, having added an incredible 12 Premier League titles to the Red Devils list of honours.
He shows no sign of slowing yet either, managing to pack in a visit to Dunfermline in aid of old friend Jim Leishman ahead of Sunday's opening weekend trip to West Brom.
However, with his 70th birthday looming on New Year's Eve, even Ferguson would acknowledge the day is not too far away when he must call time on his stellar career.
Finding the right man to replace him must give the Glazer family sleepless nights.
But, in a new book '19' chronicling all United's record 19 championship successes, Charlton outlines his belief there is no point worrying because getting an indentikit replacement will be impossible.
"There is no point suggesting anybody else to be manager of Manchester United, there is no one around who can fill his boots," said Charlton.
"He is the epitome of everything that is good about Manchester United and the ethos of this club. He knows the game inside out.
"The reason everybody performs to their best is that he is in control, not just of his staff and the first team, but the whole of the club, and as a result it operates in unison.
"I hope he can carry on for a long time yet.
"The record of 19 league titles goes down purely to Alex Ferguson."
Charlton was one of Ferguson's prime backers at the end of the 1980s, when it appeared increasingly likely his time at Old Trafford would be cut short.
    The rationale was simple.
"From the very first game that Alex took over the team, you knew that we had such a talented manager, and it was only a matter of time that he would get it right," he said.

    Heskey: Can make an impact
    HESKEY ASSURED OF VILLA ROLE

Alex McLeish insists veteran striker Emile Heskey still has a major role to play at Aston Villa and that it would be "crazy" not to make use of his vast experience.
Heskey had only a bit-part role to play during the second half of last season following the arrival of club-record signing Darren Bent in January.
The 33-year-old was linked with a move to his first club, Leicester, during the summer but McLeish is happy to retain the services of the former England player, who is in the final year of his current contract.
McLeish said: "Emile's experience is phenomenal. He has enormous experience.
"He has played for England, he has played for several top managers over the years so he has learnt a lot.
"Discarding his kind of knowledge and his skills would be crazy. I have to tap into a guy like that. I have to use him to the full.
"There is no guarantee that Emile will play every week - but he has certainly impressed me."
Heskey regained his spot initially after Gerard Houllier's arrival as manager last season but Bent's £18million capture saw him revert to being a back-up player.

Wilson: Eager to boost Scotland chances.
    DANNY WILSON WOULD CONSIDER LOAN

Danny Wilson admits he may be forced to consider a loan move away from Liverpool this season in a bid to boost his international career - if he receives any offers.
The 19-year-old made just eight appearances last term following his switch to Anfield from Rangers a year ago.
The young defender partnered Gary Caldwell in Scotland's 2-1 win over Denmark last night but knows he will need more game time at club level if he hopes to retain a place in boss Craig Levein's plans.
Asked if a loan move could be an option, Wilson said: "It's been mentioned but there have been no offers yet so it's difficult to try to decide what's going to happen.
"If there are no offers, you can't really do much about it so I'm just working hard and trying to keep a part of things. But we've got a lot of players now at Liverpool and it's going to be difficult.
"There are five centre-backs there and we are all of good quality so the manager has a difficult decision and whatever his decision is, I'll respect that.
"I didn't play enough last season and I wouldn't really like to repeat that next season. I can only do what I'm doing.
"If it's enough, it's enough. If it's not, I'll just need to work that bit harder."
Wilson was linked with a return to Rangers on loan earlier this summer and says he would not rule out another spell at Ibrox if he received the call from Ally McCoist.
He said: "I don't see why not, if the option was there. But the option's not there so it's difficult for me to comment on that.
"I'll consider any team, once the offers come in I'll evaluate them and decide what's best for me and my career."
Wilson was used in an unfamiliar left-back role last season and says he would be more than happy to demonstrate his versatility once again if it meant nailing down a place in Kenny Dalglish's side.
He said: "I'm a centre-back but if the manager decides that he wants me at left-back I can't have any problems with that and I'll do it no problem at all.
"If he wants to put me in goal, I'll go in goal. I'm one of those kind of players who always gives my all for the team wherever I'm chosen to play."
On his national team hopes, Wilson added: "If I'm playing more regularly it's better for me and it's better for the team.
"He (Levein) says he obviously wants me to be playing a bit more regularly and I can fully understand that. I want that myself.
"He's not said to me that I have to be playing but obviously it helps if I'm out there playing."
Meanwhile, Wilson is confident Scotland are in good shape ahead of next month's Euro 2012 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Lithuania following Wednesday night's victory - their first win over the Danes since 1975.
He said: "It was really important to get a good result. We've got some big games coming up and we were just looking for a good result and a good performance.
"I think the boys delivered on both fronts. We spoke about that in the changing room, how far we have come as a team.
"If you look back to the Carling Nations Cup, we performed well there although we didn't win it.
"There were good performances along the way and this is a good result against a strong Denmark team so hopefully it bodes well for the future."
