German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has reported a slow-down in subscriber growth in Q2 2011.

In the 3 months to 30 June, the broadcaster gained 33,000 new customers. In Q1 2011, Sky managed to win 73,000 new subscribers, and in Q4 2010 it gained 131,000.

The broadcaster now has a total of 2.76 million customers - still less than the 3 million needed to reach black figures. The turnover rose by 17.2% in comparison with Q2 2010, to €276.7 million, while losses declined from €81.9 million to €53.6 million.

For the whole of 2011, Sky expects a total growth of 300,000 subscribers. In the first half of 2011, a total of 106,000 new customers were won. The broadcaster didn’t give concrete expected figures for 2012 or a prognosis when financial break-even will be reached.
