    ROSSOBLU FIRE DONADONI

Cagliari have parted company with coach Roberto Donadoni two weeks before the start of the Serie A season.
The 47-year-old former AC Milan midfielder and Italian national team manager spent just nine months in charge of the Sardinian club, guiding them to a 14th-placed finish last season.
A statement on cagliaricalcio.net read: "Cagliari have dismissed coach Roberto Donadoni and his staff, comprising Luca Gotti, Giovanni Andreini and Paolo De Toffol.
"Cagliari would like to thank them for the work they did and wish them the best of luck in their future careers."
The decision comes shortly after a public fall-out with club president Massimo Cellino, and the departure of popular striker David Suazo to league rivals Catania.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, former Cesena coach Massimo Ficcadenti will be unveiled as Donadoni's replacement on Tuesday.

Grant Leadbitter: Has been linked with Portsmouth
    JEWELL PLANS LEADBITTER DEAL

Ipswich manager Paul Jewell plans to offer Grant Leadbitter a new contract after dismissing talk of a bid for the midfielder.
Leadbitter joined Ipswich from Sunderland two years ago and he is approaching 100 appearances for the club.
He is in the final year of his contract at Portman Road and has been linked with a £2million move to Championship rivals Portsmouth.
However, Jewell has shot down talk of receiving an approach for Leadbitter and is keen to offer the 25-year-old an extension.
"There has been no bid for Grant and the owner (Marcus Evans) and I are planning to sit down with him next week and offer a new deal," said Jewell.

    Ayala: Closing on Canaries move.
CANARIES CLOSE IN ON AYALA SIGNING

Norwich are set to complete the signing of Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala.
Both Barclays Premier League clubs expect the 20-year-old to become Paul Lambert's eighth signing of the summer when he joins for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant paperwork being finalised.
Ayala, who joined Liverpool from Sevilla in 2007, has had loan spells at Hull and Derby over the past two seasons but only made five Premier League appearances for the Reds.

Alan Pardew: Looking for more signings
    LLAMBIAS TARGETS FURTHER SIGNINGS

Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias has acknowledged the need for further reinforcements as manager Alan Pardew targets a striker and a left-back.
The Magpies have drafted in Yohan Cabaye, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux, Mehdi Abeid and Demba Ba this summer with Kevin Nolan and Jose Enrique having left, and Pardew is confident he will make further additions before the transfer deadline.
Writing in his programme notes ahead of Saturday evening's opening Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal at St James' Park, Llambias said: "We are delighted with the business that we have conducted in the transfer market this summer, and we added further quality to our squad this week with the signing of Gabriel Obertan from Manchester United.
"Gabriel is an exciting player and along with the likes of Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid, we have every right to be pleased with our transfer activity so far.
"They are top-quality players who will hopefully make a big impression here, and added to the quality that we already have at the club, we are all very excited about the coming months.
"But we are fully aware of the need to add further players to our squad and we will be working hard to try and bring the right kind of players in before the transfer window shuts in 18 days."
