Re: Latest Transfer Update at 15-08-11

Cesc Fabregas is welcomed by Sandro Rosell
    FABREGAS SEALS BARCELONA RETURN

Cesc Fabregas completed his return to Barcelona from Arsenal on Monday before admitting: "I've waited a long time for this moment."
Fabregas was unveiled by the European champions at the Nou Camp this afternoon after passing his medical and putting pen-to-paper on a five-year contract that includes a buy-out clause of 200 million euros.
The transfer, which could end up earning Arsenal 39 million euros, brings to an end one of the longest-running sagas in football, with the Catalan club having spent several years chasing a player who left them for the Gunners as a 16-year-old.
"I've waited a long time for this moment. It's a very special day. I'm returning home after eight years," said Fabregas on Monday.
"I'm grateful to everyone who have helped make today is one of the happiest days of my life. I hope to give my best to the club and that nobody regrets my signing."
Fabregas, 24, joins a Barca side widely regarded as one of the best in history and one that has picked up 10 pieces of silverware in just three years under Pep Guardiola.
The former Arsenal captain admits it is a huge test for him, but one he is not afraid of.
"It's the biggest challenge of my life," he said.
"I've chosen the most difficult path. It's a difficult challenge but I'm not afraid, just the reverse. I will fight until the last drop of sweat."
Fabregas, who will wear the number four shirt at Barca and becomes the club's second big-money signing of the summer after the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Udinese, admits it was a relief for the move to finally be confirmed.
The transfer had looked to be coming to an end on Friday with suggestions that confirmation of a deal was imminent.
Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes said in a press conference that he believed the transfer was close to being finalised, while his team-mates Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique both sent Fabregas messages on Twitter to welcome their Spain colleague.
However, it was not until late on Sunnight that the an agreement between the two clubs was made official.
"They have been three or four intense days and I've tried to keep away from it all as much as possible. Until I had permission from Arsenal to travel I was not going to do it. In the end it has all been worth it," he said.
"I'm happy, as you can see. These have been long weeks where I didn't know what would happen with my future. They have been difficult in the sense of the uncertainty. A weight has been lifted."
Asked what he has learned from his time in England, the World Cup and European Championship winner said: "Now I have much more experience, I'm calmer.
"When you are younger you think of other objectives but I knew that sooner or later I was going to return. I have here the most difficult challenge of my life, but I have to work hard because Pep is very fair with the players."
Barcelona are next in action on Wednesday night when they host arch rivals Real Madrid in the second leg of the Spanish Supercup, having drawn Sunday night's first leg 2-2 at the Bernabeu.
"I didn't see the first leg last night as I was flying over," he said on Monday. "But physically I'm fine and ready for everything. It's up to the coach if I to play or not. I'm going to work very hard as always and enjoy it."
Meanwhile, Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta confirmed the club were not currently looking to bring in any more players this summer, although he did not completely rule out any new arrivals.
"The market never closes for a team like Barca, but at this time we are not looking," he said.

Samir Nasri: Not impressed with chanting
    NASRI IRKED BY ARSENAL CHANTS

Contract rebel Samir Nasri has labelled Arsenal fans as "disrespectful" after chanting against him at Newcastle on Saturday.
The France midfielder, 24, has yet to pen a new deal with the Gunners, and so could leave on a free transfer next summer.
Nasri has been linked with a £25million move to Manchester City, although Arsene Wenger remains hopeful the playmaker will stay, particularly after the sale of captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona.
The 24-year-old did not feature in the opening Barclays Premier League game at St James' Park because of illness, but was the subject of abuse from some sections of the travelling support, who questioned his loyalty and labelled him greedy.
Nasri, who is suspended for Tuesday night's Champions League play-off first leg against Udinese at Emirates Stadium, used his Twitter account to hit back.
He wrote: "I heard what the fans were singing about me on Saturday and it is really disrespectful because I'm still a (sic) arsenal player."

Keane: Set to link up with David Beckham.
    KEANE COMPLETES GALAXY MOVE

Robbie Keane has completed his transfer to the Los Angeles Galaxy, Tottenham announced on Monday evening.
Keane had been in discussions with the MLS club over a move after it became clear that he was surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.
The Republic of Ireland captain admitted earlier this week that he thought his time at Tottenham was coming to an end, and the move to join David Beckham's team in a £3.5million transfer was finally completed on Monday evening.
"Tottenham can announce that it has reached agreement with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy for the permanent transfer of Robbie Keane," a statement on the Spurs website read on Monday evening.
Negotiations between the two parties had been held up by MLS rules, which state that any franchise must have only three high-earning squad members, known as "designated players".
The Galaxy currently have David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Juan Pablo Angel registered as theirs, but former Aston Villa striker Angel is thought to be negotiating a release from the club.
Keane's departure brings to an end his second spell at White Hart Lane.
The 31-year-old made 254 appearances for Spurs during his first stint between 2002 and 2008, during which time he scored 107 goals and quickly became a fans' favourite.
He then moved to Liverpool for £20million but returned to north London within six months after failing to impress at Anfield.
Keane played regularly under Harry Redknapp during his first season back but the arrival of Rafael Van der Vaart last summer reduced his first-team opportunities and he was shipped out on loan to West Ham, where he failed to impress.
Keane revealed that a chat with new team-mate Beckham was key to persuading him to move to the United States.
"I am delighted, honoured and very excited to be joining the LA Galaxy," Keane told The Galaxy's website.
"I have always wanted to come and play in MLS so it's the perfect combination for me and a dream come true.
"My family and I have already been made to feel very welcome in telephone calls from (Galaxy owner) Tim Leiweke and (manager) Bruce Arena.
"Also when David Beckham came and trained at Spurs (in January) recently he couldn't speak highly enough about the Galaxy, their fans and the league in general, so I can't wait to get over and get started."
Keane played poorly while at West Ham, scoring twice in 10 appearances as the Hammers were relegated.
But the former Inter Milan striker, who is joining his ninth club, is confident he will be good enough to score goals in the MLS though and is looking forward to the challenge.
"I have already discussed football with Bruce Arena and I know exactly what he wants from me," Keane added. "I am fit, fresh and ready to go. I've come here to score goals and help this team achieve their goals.
"This is a massive opportunity for me in my career. I aim to grab it with both hands and hopefully help give the Galaxy fans what they want."
Arena, whose side currently top the Western Conference of the MLS, added: "Robbie Keane will be a great addition to our club. I have followed his career and have always respected his ability as a competitor and a goalscorer.
"I believe that he brings qualities in and around the penalty area that we have been lacking. Hopefully, he will be another piece of the puzzle in our quest for the Supporters' Shield and an MLS Cup championship as well as to advance to the next round of the CONCACAF Champions League."

Brown: Keen to bolster attacking options.
    DONS TAKE CHALALI ON TRIAL

Algeria under-23 international Mohamed Chalali will spend this week on trial at Aberdeen.
The 22-year-old striker arrived in the Granite City this morning and will train with the club over the coming days.
Chalali currently plays in Greece with Panionios and began his career in France with Le Havre.
Aberdeen have failed to score a single goal in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League so far this season and boss Craig Brown is keen to add to his attacking options.
Dutch striker Maceo Rigters also remains at Pittodrie this week as he too tries to impress the Dons.
He was linked with a move to Celtic in 2007 after starring in Holland's successful European Under-21 Championship campaign, but Blackburn won the race for his signature.
However, Rigters failed to make an impact at Rovers following his move from NAC Breda.
The 27-year-old spent last term on loan at Willem II in his homeland before his Ewood Park deal expired.
