Nicky Maynard: West Ham transfer target
    WEST HAM EYE MAYNARD SWOOP

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in signing Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard.
Maynard's future at Ashton Gate has been the subject of intense speculation all summer with the player entering the final year of his contract.
Bristol City have rejected three bids from Leicester already this summer as they hope to tie down the 24-year-old to a new long-term contract.
Allardyce is keen to bolster his attacking options and he admits he has made enquiries about Maynard's availability.
"It is down to whether Bristol City want to sell," Allardyce told The People.
"We have looked into whether he's available but enquiries have been made as discreetly as possible."

Michael Ballack: Didn't feature for Leverkusen
    VOLLER: BALLACK HAS LEVERKUSEN FUTURE

Bayer Leverkusen's director of sport Rudi Voller insists Michael Ballack still has a future at the club, even if he was left out of the starting XI again on Saturday.
The former Germany captain spent the entire 90 minutes of Leverkusen's 1-0 win over Stuttgart on the bench and left the stadium afterwards without talking to journalists, increasing speculation that he is to seek a move away from the club this week.
However, Voller says his time will also come and, with Leverkusen playing in the Champions League this season, they need a large squad with lots of rotation for every match.
"We are far more relaxed about this than many people think from the outside," he said.
"There are other players who are not playing at the moment too, and he played last weekend anyway.
"We definitely need everybody. There will be times when other players will be glad of a break because they are worn out."
Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt gave Ballack the captain's armband last weekend when Simon Rolfes was dropped to the bench and the roles were reversed on Saturday, but he felt he got his choice right once again.
"Lars Bender and Simon Rolfes had a very good game and so there was no need to make a substitution," he said.
Nevertheless, after making it clear that Ballack and Rolfes will not appear in his team together, Dutt is going to have to disappoint one of them each week.

Michael Oenning: Defeat at Bayern Munich
    OENNING REASSURED OVER FUTURE

Hamburg coach Michael Oenning should not fear for his future despite yesterday's 5-0 defeat at Bayern Munich.
That result left the northern Germany club inside the bottom two of the Bundesliga having conceded 10 goals already in their first three games of the season.
However, Oenning will be given the time he needs to turn things around, according to the club's director of sport Frank Arnesen.
"We are backing the coach," he said.
"I have faith in the entire coaching team.
"The fact is, the team needs time and Michael Oenning also needs time, and we will give him that time."
Nevertheless, Oenning admitted the performance was "shocking" as he only just avoided the fate of his predecessor Armin Veh, who was fired immediately after a 6-0 humbling at the hands of Bayern last season.
"This is a defeat which really hurts," added the under-fire Hamburg coach.
"We could not even do the simple things during the game."
The mood in the Bayern camp was in stark contrast, meanwhile, despite the warning before the game from their chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge that a defeat would not be tolerated.
"We can all be very happy," said their coach Jupp Heynckes.
"The team looked ambitious from the beginning and I was particularly pleased that we did not concede.
"We did not let them have a single chance. This was certainly the best performance of the season."
Bayern will travel to Zurich in confident mood for the second leg of their Champions League play-off match on Tuesday.
