Juan Mata: On his way to Chelsea
JUAN MATA SAYS GOODBYE TO VALENCIA

Juan Mata was on Monday preparing to say his goodbyes to Valencia after confirming he was travelling to London to complete the formalities of his move to Chelsea.
The Spain winger was expected to undergo a medical at the Blues' Cobham training base and agree personal terms before putting the seal on a deal reportedly worth between £24million and £26million.
That would make the 23-year-old Chelsea's biggest signing of the summer following the arrivals of youngsters Romelu Lukaku, Oriol Romeu and Thibault Courtois.
Mata tweeted today: "Travel to London for medical examination, and come back to Valencia to say goodbye to everybody as you deserve...thanks so much!"
Last night saw both clubs confirm a deal had been agreed for the player, who was part of Spain's World Cup-winning squad and captained their triumphant European Under-21 Championship team.
His arrival would add much-needed creativity to a Chelsea side which struggled to break down both Stoke and West Brom in their opening two Barclays Premier League games of the season.
New manager Andre Villas-Boas has admitted he is short of numbers in midfield and although he insisted he was happy with the quality at his disposal, his pursuit of Mata and Tottenham's Luka Modric suggests otherwise.
Both are the type of player likely to help get the best out of £50million striker Fernando Torres, who played well at Stoke last weekend but has again not looked like scoring in either of his games this season.
Chelsea still retain an interest in Modric, who Spurs boss Harry Redknapp last night admitted was not mentally fit to play in tonight's Premier League game at Manchester United.
There have been reports of a £30million bid having been made for the Croatia playmaker, who Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has repeatedly insisted is not for sale at any price.
Redknapp, however, has suggested it might be in the club's interest to part with Modric and spend the money on reinforcements, one of which might have been Mata had he agreed to a move.
The Spaniard was also a target for Arsenal but appears to have more chance of domestic and European success at Stamford Bridge.
His arrival could kick-start a number of departures from Chelsea, with Yossi Benayoun having tweeted at the weekend that he expected to be able to clarify his own future on Wednesday.
Also linked with moves away have been forwards Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou and Florent Malouda, the latter of whom came off the bench to score the winner against West Brom on Saturday having lost his place in the side.
Malouda played down the implications of being left out and of Kalou being withdrawn for him after just 35 minutes against the Baggies.
He told his club's official website, www.chelseafc.com: "It has always been clear before this game that there is a lot of competition in the squad. Everyone is under pressure.
"It is nothing new and I think it will be like this throughout the season.
"He [Villas-Boas] asked a couple of simple questions at half-time. 'Do you think that is how we want to play and is that what we want to demonstrate to the other teams who want to win the title? Are we ready to change things?'
"It was a simple but very efficient message. We had to take more risks and play with more character."
One player who did leave Stamford Bridge today was Tomas Kalas, who joined Vitesse Arnhem on loan, while fellow defender Slobodan Rajkovic was reportedly set to become the latest departee for Hamburg.
The Serb, 22, joined Chelsea from OFK Beograd for £3.8million in 2007 but has never played in a competitive game for the club due to work-permit problems.

    Sotirios Kyrgiakos: Joined Wolfsburg
    KYRGIAKOS HEADS TO WOLFSBURG

Liverpool have confirmed that defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has joined Wolfsburg.
The Greece international has signed a two-year contract with the German club although no fee has been announced.
"Liverpool FC this afternoon confirmed that Sotirios Kyrgiakos had left the club and joined Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg," a statement on Liverpool's website read.
Kyrgiakos made 49 appearances for Liverpool after joining the club from AEK Athens in the summer of 2009.
The 32-year-old made 28 of those last term although his first-team opportunities were reduced when Kenny Dalglish returned as manager.
Kyrgiakos revealed he was looking forward to returning to Germany after spending two season at Eintracht Frankfurt from 2006 to 2008.
"Wolfsburg are a good club. They won the championship in 2009," he told the club's official website.
"I'm here to play and I would like to play every game.
"I am fit and ready, but the coach decides when and if I get to play."

Smith: Hopes QPR sign some quality
SMITH WOULD WELCOME NEW FACES AT QPR

QPR striker Tommy Smith hopes manager Neil Warnock will now be able to bring in a number of players with "real quality" following Tony Fernandes' takeover of the club.
Fernandes ended a summer of uncertainty at Loftus Road last Thursday when he bought out previous majority shareholders Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone.
Warnock has welcomed the Malaysian's arrival as he is now certain to be given the transfer funds he has craved all summer.
The former Sheffield United manager is interested in a move for Liverpool's Joe Cole and has also been linked with Tottenham striker Peter Crouch, his team-mate David Bentley, and West Ham and England man Scott Parker.
Fernandes' purchase appears to have had a positive effect among the current squad too, with Warnock's men responding to last week's hammering by Bolton with an away win at Everton.
Smith, who fired the winner in Saturday's 1-0 win at Goodison Park, admits the squad have found a new lease of life since Fernandes' takeover and is relishing the prospect of playing alongside some established Premier League stars who he hopes will help keep the club in the top flight.
"We have been linked with some interesting players," Smith said.
"It will be great if we get some real quality in - some players who have played at the top level in the Premier League.
"That would be great for the dressing room and the club as a whole. It will improve us as a team."
Hoops defender Bradley Orr echoed his team-mate's praise for Fernandes by saying: "All the lads have been buzzing since Thursday.
"Listening to him in his interview when he took over, he spoke so well and - with his vision and (returning vice chairman) Amit Bhatia back on board - it's just a really exciting time for everyone connected to the football club.
"I feel proud and honoured to be involved and a part of it."
Warnock must now turn his attention to the Carling Cup, where his team will face Rochdale in Tuesday's second round clash at Loftus Road.
The Rangers boss is set to make several changes for the visit of the League One side, with DJ Campbell, Adel Taarabt, Jay Bothroyd all likely to be rested.
Meanwhile, Fernandes continued his shake up of the Loftus Road hierarchy on Monday by appointing Philip Beard as the club's new chief executive.
Beard was part of the bidding team that won the London 2012 Olympics and has also worked as chief executive at the O2 Arena.
Speaking about Beard's appointment, Fernandes told qpr.co.uk: "Philip brings a long history of success in the sports industry with him to QPR.
"His track record in leading teams and achieving commercial success is exemplary and I am delighted to have him on board."
Beard, who has also worked at American sports and entertainment company AEG, added: "I am utterly thrilled to be joining QPR in this hugely exciting chapter in the club's history.
"I will be focusing on helping it become the very best club it can be, both on and off the pitch.
"I want to ensure the best possible experience for the people who support us day in and day out - our loyal supporters."
