    Park: Heading to Arsenal
    ARSENAL AGREE PARK CHU-YOUNG DEAL

Arsenal have completed the signing of South Korea captain Park Chu-Young from Monaco, subject to a formal registration process.
The striker has penned what is thought to be an initial two-year contract, amid reports he will be forced to return home in 2013 for a period of military service.
The Gunners have signed the 26-year-old from under the noses of Lille, who were convinced they had reached an agreement for the player to join them on Saturday.
Park, who scored 25 goals in 91 Ligue 1 games for Monaco, made his South Korea debut aged 19 and played at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
He succeeded Park Ji-Sung as captain of his country earlier this year following the latter's international retirement.
"I am very honoured and I feel very happy to be at Arsenal," he told his new club's official website.
"It is a dream to be here and I am really proud to be an Arsenal player. Now I just want to show how good I am and prove myself.
"In my opinion, this is a great club. Now I have to show what I can do on the pitch.
"I will do my best, I will never give up, I will show heart, I will give everything and I hope (the fans) will support me."
Manager Arsene Wenger, whose personal intervention reportedly convinced Park to pull out of his move to Lille, added: "We are delighted to have signed Chu.
"He will add true quality to our attacking forces and will be a valuable addition to the squad."
Park will wear the number nine shirt.

    Parker: Spurs move close
    REDKNAPP: PARKER DEAL CLOSE

West Ham midfielder Scott Parker has handed in a transfer request after Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp revealed his side were "very, very close" to signing the England international.
Spurs boss Redknapp was hopeful of wrapping up a reported £6million deal for Parker, with the written request seemingly moving him a step closer to the Upton Park exit door.
Parker, who was encouraged to move by England manager Fabio Capello following the Hammers' relegation, told his club's website: "I have had a fantastic four years at West Ham United and will never forget all the support I have had from the fans and everyone associated with the club.
"The manager and board have tried hard to convince me to stay but, at this stage in my career, I need to be playing in the Premier League, especially now that I am involved with England.
"I hope the fans will understand and respect my decision and I wish the club every success in their fight for promotion this season."
Redknapp said of long-time target Parker: "He's a good player. I think he's what we need. He's a good lad, great attitude.
"Footballer of the year last year and he'll be a good addition for this team - no doubt about that.
"He's a good character, a fantastic person, a proper family man, a real good pro. He'll be great around the place for us."
Redknapp confirmed he expected more ins and outs at White Hart Lane before the transfer window closes, with Alan Hutton and Peter Crouch both in line to be sold.
Tottenham remain adamant the duo would not be joined by Luka Modric, despite the midfielder's desire to join Chelsea.
There were conflicting reports today over the Blues' attempts to sign Modric, some describing them as dead and others suggesting a last-ditch cash-plus-Yossi Benayoun bid was on the table.
A part-exchange deal had also been mooted in Spurs' pursuit of Parker but Redknapp today revealed youngster Jake Livermore would not be a makeweight in any remaining negotiations.
He told Sky Sports News: "It's very, very close. I don't think it's too far away now. Hopefully, it will get done today.
"Jake's not going to West Ham. They were interested in Jake but, in the end, the chairman dealt with it and just did a straight deal with West Ham.
"They've been good to deal with as well, West Ham. It's all gone through very smoothly so not a problem."
As well as adding players, Redknapp has been trying to trim his squad all summer and it looked likely today that striker Crouch and full-back Hutton would be allowed to leave.
Redknapp had previously insisted he had no intention of selling Crouch, who is the subject of a bid from Sunderland.
He has also been heavily linked with Stoke and is a rumoured target for QPR.
"A few clubs want him but we'll have to wait and see with that one," said Redknapp, who last week signed Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Manchester City.
"It's up to Crouchy. I've had Peter at a few clubs. Good player, great guy as well.
"But I suppose with Adebayor coming in it's an area that we're a little bit overloaded in and he's one that people want.
"So if we could do a deal with someone then it's a possibility."
Scotland star Hutton has fallen right down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and has been linked with Aston Villa, who sold Luke Young to QPR at the weekend.
Redknapp insisted he did not know if Villa had made a bid, but added: "Alan's a good player. He's been away playing for Scotland and (Villa boss) Alex McLeish knows him, so it may well be a possibility I suppose."

Tottenham were also linked today with a cash-plus-Sebastien Bassong deal for Bolton defender Gary Cahill, while Sulley Muntari's agent claimed they were interested in the Inter Milan midfielder.

    Crouch: Wanted by Sunderland
    BRUCE RESURRECTS CROUCH INTEREST

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has turned to England international Peter Crouch once again as he looks to land a big-name striker.
The Black Cats have reportedly made an offer for the 30-year-old Tottenham frontman, but the North London club's valuation of the player is currently significantly higher than theirs.
Bruce is desperately looking for additional firepower after a relatively toothless start to the new season and, having run the rule over a series of targets, has resurrected his interest in Crouch, a player he first tried to sign shortly after his arrival at the Stadium of Light during the summer of 2009.
(reopens) On that occasion, the then Portsmouth striker rejected a move to Wearside and later headed to White Hart Lane, and it remains to be seen whether or not, if Sunderland can agree terms with Spurs, they can then persuade the player to head north at the second attempt.
Bruce has already made 10 permanent signings since the end of last season, including young strikers Connor Wickham and Ji Dong-won, but has seen his side score just once in four games to date this time around, and that through midfielder Sebastian Larsson.
The former Manchester United defender has high hopes for both the England Under-21 international and the South Korea starlet, but admits he invested in potential which he does not expect to be fulfilled for 18 months to two years.
In the meantime, he wants a proven hitman to plug the gap left by Darren Bent's January exit to Aston Villa, with Ghana international Asamoah Gyan struggling for form in front of goal since the start of the new Barclays Premier League campaign.
Bruce has been linked with a series of potential targets this summer and in particular since admitting last Friday he was on the trail of a striker.
Wolfsburg's Patrick Helmes has been high on his list, but he has also been linked with the likes of Craig Bellamy and Nicklas Bendtner, men with experience of English football's top division.
However, it appears that Crouch is the player upon whom he is now pinning his hopes with barely 24 hours of the window remaining.
Competition for places in attack Spurs has increased once again with the arrival of Arsenal old boy Emmanuel Adebayor on loan from Real Madrid, and the 6ft 7in frontman could face a big decision.
Manager Harry Redknapp admitted that there was significant interest in the player, who is also wanted by Stoke, and that he could leave the club.
He told Sky Sports News: "It's up to Crouchy. I've had Peter at a few clubs. Good player, great guy as well.
"But I suppose with Adebayor coming in, it's an area that we are a little bit overloaded in and he's one that people want, so if we could do a deal with someone, then it's a possibility."
Intriguingly, Spurs have been credited with an interest in Gyan, a link which has annoyed Bruce, although it is understood the Black Cats' offer is a cash one.
The Ghana international has looked out of sorts during the opening weeks of the new season, which have seen the optimism of an opening-day draw at Liverpool fade in the wake of defeats at home to derby rivals Newcastle and away at npower Championship Brighton in the Carling Cup and Saturday's 0-0 draw at promoted Swansea.
Meanwhile, QPR are hoping to continue their spending spree by attempting to lure Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand to Loftus Road.
The 26-year-old has started all four games to date, but with Titus Bramble and Michael Turner working their way back to full fitness and John O'Shea and Wes Brown having arrived from Manchester United, Bruce has strength in depth in that department.
