    Bridge: Can make loan move
    BRIDGE AVAILABLE FOR LOAN SWITCH

Manchester City will make former England defender Wayne Bridge available for loan to npower Championship clubs.
The 31-year-old does not feature in manager Roberto Mancini's plans but remains a City player after no prospective move materialised before last week's transfer deadline.
Bridge spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and another temporary move is still a possibility with a loan window for Football League clubs now open.
"I think that it is better for him if we can find a good solution in the Championship," said Mancini.
Another player down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium is defender Nedum Onuoha.
The 24-year-old spent last season on loan at Sunderland but a proposed move to Everton for this term collapsed last week.
Onuoha could still have a role to play in terms of helping City meet minimum homegrown player regulations but the player is still likely to move on sooner or later.
Mancini said: "Onouha will stay with us because he is homegrown but he knows it is difficult for him to play often.
"We may find a good solution for him in the next two or three months, or in January maybe."

    Nikica Jelavic: Offer rejected
    McCOIST: GERS REJECTED JELAVIC OFFER

Manager Ally McCoist has confirmed Rangers did receive an offer "in the region" of £9million for Nikica Jelavic on transfer deadline day.
The Croatian striker was the subject of interest from an unnamed club hours before the window shut after the Scottish champions had previously rejected a bid of £6.5million from Leicester.
McCoist has admitted relief at retaining the services of one of his key players, who he credits with having a major role to play in Rangers winning the Clydesdale Bank Premier League title last season.
Asked if Jelavic was the subject of a £9million bid, McCoist said: "There was certainly a bid that came in.
"I can't say the exact figure but it was certainly in that region. I don't know the exact figures to be honest, I was only interested in the fact that it was turned down.
"We are all delighted that Nikica hasn't left and I speak for the supporters, the players and the management staff.
"It would have been a massive blow for us to lose Nikica but thankfully we haven't."
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell appeared to mock the reported big-money interest in Jelavic the following day when he said: "Well, last night we got a £29million offer for [Gary] Hooper. From an unknown agent, from an unknown club, from another universe."
Responding to those comments, McCoist said: "I'm over it. Peter was, I think, having a laugh and a joke.
"Who am I to say nobody is allowed to have a laugh and a joke?
"It's absolutely fine. There are no problems at all with me with Peter's comments."
However, Rangers have been dealt a blow with the news that Jelavic is out of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League game at Dundee United after returning from international duty with Croatia with a knee injury.
McCoist said: "He won't travel with us today. He is just feeling the effects of the international break and he's not 100 per cent.
"We will give him another 48 hours and the doctor will have a look at him again on Sunday morning.
"We are hopeful it's just a little bit of a knock, which it looks like at this moment in time.
"There is a little bit of puffiness but nothing major so I would be hopeful he will be involved in next week's Old Firm game."
Meanwhile, John Fleck will remain at Rangers at least until January and fight for his place in the first team, while Kyle Hutton has joined Irn-Bru First Division side Partick Thistle on a three-month loan.
The Ibrox duo, both 20, thought they had sealed season-long loan moves to Sheffield United on transfer deadline day but were not registered with the English Football League in time.
McCoist said: "John and Kyle had the opportunity to go to Sheffield United but unfortunately there was a problem with the paperwork.
"Because John has played for us already this season, he can only go to one club on loan because of the three-club rule so he is not going anywhere at the moment.
"John and I had a good chat and John is going to stay and hopefully fight his way into the team. We will review it again in January.
"The boys certainly have a future here. The fact that we are sending them out on loan is only because we want them to get games and sample first-team football and hopefully learn from the experience."

    Tony Pulis: Very happy
    PULIS HAPPY WITH WINDOW BUSINESS

Stoke boss Tony Pulis has declared himself "pleased as punch" with the club's new signings and is confident none of them will disrupt the sense of unity at the Britannia Stadium.
The Potters embarked on a late spending spree on transfer deadline day to bring in Wilson Palacios, Peter Crouch and Cameron Jerome.
The trio's arrival follow those of free agents Jonathan Woodgate and Matthew Upson earlier in the summer.
And ahead of Saturday's clash with Liverpool, Pulis is feeling satisfied with his recruitment and points to the way Woodgate and Upson have settled in at Stoke as evidence that big-name players will not rock the boat.
"We are delighted, absolutely pleased as punch to have done the business we have done," Pulis said.
"When you think we have signed five players for under £20million and you've got Woodgate, Upson, Palacios, Crouch and Jerome - for that price, I think it is fantastic business.
"We have brought big-name players in and I think the supporters deserve that.
"But the one thing we have been at this football club over the last five years is united as a group, from boardroom level through to the staff, the players and the terraces.
"I don't think there is a better example anywhere up and down the country of a club that has been as united as we have.
"You speak to the players and ask them about what Upson and Woodgate have been like - they have been here for four or five weeks and have been absolutely fantastic.
"You wouldn't believe the pedigree that they have got - they have mixed in really well and have become part of the group.
"We've done our homework on Palacios, Crouch and Jerome and we have brought three players in who will all work as hard as how our gang work, as well as hopefully bringing that little bit more quality."
Pulis believes Crouch - who became the Potters' record signing when he completed a £10million move from Tottenham - will show the right attitude for Stoke and is not worried about the England striker's public profile.
The player's wife, the model and television presenter Abbey Clancy, is reportedly unhappy about the prospect of leaving London and there have been question marks raised as to how Crouch might adjust to life with the Staffordshire outfit.
But Pulis insists he has no concerns about the 30-year-old's commitment to his new club.
"Peter is a great lad and I think you're pigeon-holing someone just because their picture is in the paper," he said.
"He is a fantastic kid, very down to earth, and we are absolutely delighted to have him - and we'll have him as a footballer.
"What Peter does in his private life is up to him and he should be able to do what he wants to do within reason.
"As long as he comes along, trains well, works hard and then does it on a Saturday, we will be absolutely delighted."
He added: "I spoke to Peter yesterday and he is looking for property up here, and I think his wife was up looking with him."
Crouch was greeted by a crowd of fans at the club's ground on the night that his transfer to Stoke was sealed and he has vowed to give his all for them.
"It was crazy really and I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before," Crouch told stokecityfc.com.
"It was like half one in the morning and there were still 800 to 1000 fans out there singing my name and that was really flattering to be honest.
"I'm very thankful for the welcome they gave me, and hopefully I can repay them out on the pitch now with performances and goals.
"I will give absolutely everything I have got in every game I play in, that is for sure."
Crouch is set to make his Potters debut against former side Liverpool at the Britannia Stadium, while Pulis will run the rule over Palacios and Jerome to see if they are fit enough for their first run-outs as Stoke players.
Marc Wilson and Rory Delap (both hamstring) will also be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Tim Cahill: Set to play in attack for Everton
    MOYES SHORT OF STRIKERS

Everton manager David Moyes knows he has left himself a little bit short up front after his transfer window dealings saw two strikers leave and only one arrive.
Moyes brought in the untested Argentinian Denis Stracqualursi having allowed Jermaine Beckford to join Leicester and Ayegbeni Yakubu to go to Blackburn.
The Toffees boss accepts he has no idea how the player on loan from Tigres - or fellow deadline-day arrival Royston Drenthe - will cope with the Barclays Premier League.
And with Victor Anichebe out for a couple of months with an ankle injury sustained on international duty and Louis Saha's fitness a seemingly week-to-week issue, Moyes plans to utilise midfielder Tim Cahill in an advanced role he has been pressed into on regular occasions over the last couple of years.
"We had Stracqualursi watched in Argentina last year and he was valued a lot more than we got him for - we took him for nothing," said the Scot.
"There weren't an awful lot of centre-forwards out there we could get and he became available to us at the last minute.
"In the end it was nearly worth the gamble to see how he does. We've done it before with loan signings; some have worked and some haven't.
"He has a good goalscoring record in Argentina but I'm not sure yet, we'll find out in time.
"He looks like he's got a good goalscoring record and looks like he can finish.
"But I do expect to play Cahill up front. He played up front against QPR so we will use him there.
"We have more options in midfield with the likes of Ross Barkley, Jack Rodwell, Marouane Fellaini, Leon Osman John Heitinga and Phil Neville.
"Where we don't have a lot of options is at centre-forward.
"I need to add Tim Cahill to the group up front to see if I can find a combination which can get me some goals and lead the line."
Drenthe is another player who has been on Everton's radar for a while with Moyes almost signing him on loan from Real Madrid last season.
However, like Stracqualursi, the manager has questions about the left-sided player he needs answers to.
"We don't know enough yet about Royston," he added.
"We've not seen enough, although we have seen him in training.
"We'll give him a chance to work with Bainesy (Leighton Baines) as things go on.
"At the moment we are all looking; the supporters have had the same look as I've had and we will see what we can do.
"Everyone tells me he is a terrific player. There have been questions about him as a lad at times but I've found him fantastic in the week he's been here."
Both new signings are well short of match practice but could feature among the substitutes for Saturday's visit of Aston Villa having worked hard this week.
"The two's attitudes this week have been a breath of fresh air," said Moyes.
"They've probably had double sessions this week as we try to get them into the right condition.
"The biggest thing they are lacking is match practice; one hasn't played since mid-April and the other since June and they have not had any pre-season games so that has to be a big consideration.
"Supporters have to understand it will take a bit of time to get them back [to fitness]."
