what is the diffence mrb307,mrb312,speedy , neo

I’m what you call a rookie (a first time user). And I would like to start understanding at least somewhat of what I am reading all here.

What is for instance the difference between mrb307, mrb310, Mrb312.
First I thought it meant a next version, but than I see of all these files new versions with the same date..
And what about NEO-v404 files, Mrb-speedy, D+fix, etc.
I’m sorry for asking such elementary questions, but I’m very curious now.
I searched the web for answers, but ……..
