MIPCOM 2011: Australia’s Quail Television signs Foxtel and TV3 to Pitcairn: Paradise Lost

Australian production house Quail Television has secured two new co-production partners for its docudrama Pitcairn: Paradise Lost, which is currently in development.
Foxtel’s Crime and Investigation Channel in Australia and TV3 in New Zealand have both joined the project as co-producers, as well as acquiring broadcast rights at pre-sale.
A true-life courtroom thriller, Pitcairn: Paradise Lost tells the story of the ritualised abuse on a remote island paradise and the trial that followed, which made headlines around the world.
Greg Quail, executive producer and founder at Quail Television, said: “We are very pleased to partner with Foxtel and TV3, in what is a major step forward for the project as we continue development. Pitcairn: Paradise Lost has already attracted great interest from around the world and we will be travelling to the UK and MIPCOM later this month to secure further co-production partners and pre-sales.”
Rick Kalowski, executive producer and Quail Television’s creative director – scripted, said: “We are working closely with the senior prosecutor who tried the case and the journalist/author Kathy Marks, who knows it best, an A-list producing and writing team, as well as obtaining access to people from every side of the case.
