Djibril Cisse: 'Crazy offer' from China
DJIBRIL CISSE REVEALS CHINESE OFFER
Djibril Cisse has revealed he turned down a chance to move to China this summer and join Lazio instead in the hope of returning to the France fold.
The French striker signed a four-year contract with the Serie A outfit in July after two seasons at Panathinaikos.
"This summer I received a crazy offer," Cisse told France Football magazine.
"The Chinese champions (Guangzhou Evergrande) offered me almost 20 million euros for a two-and-a-half year contract.
"But I decided it was too early to go there. The sporting side comes first for me.
"I didn't want to find myself far away without having previously made a name for myself for France."
Cisse has won 40 caps for his country, netting nine times, but has struggled to force his way back into the national side with just three appearances since leaving Marseille in 2008.
Cisse has set his heart on a France recall after making a good start to life at Lazio.
The 30-year-old has made eight appearances and scored four goals in all competitions for the Romans so far.
"I thought Serie A would not be for me," he said.
"But only an idiot does not change his mind. I feel better than before, I am stronger mentally and physically.
"Perhaps I lost quickness because of my injuries but I feel more complete as a player.
"I want to show this and I want people to see this while wearing the French colours.
"Until I retire, I continue to believe it's possible (to return to the national team)."
