An Argentine manufacturer is about to become the first in the country to introduce a family of LED screens with embedded digital terrestrial TV (DTT) decoders.
Named Coradir, the company develops electronic products and IT systems. It is based in the San Luis Province in the mid-west of the country, and has manufacturing facilities both in the capital of that province and the national capital, Buenos Aires.
While other vendors have for a while been offering integrated flat TV screens featuring the ISDB-T microchip adopted for DTT transmissions in the country, this will be the first time that the technology is embedded in the more recent generation of TVs.
According to technology portal Fayerwayer.com, Coradir will be launching two models, a 32-inch and a 42-inch screens, which will retail for approximately 3,750 Pesos (US$880) and 6,000 Pesos (US$1,400), respectively.
Both widescreen models will feature Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080), 100.000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 5 milliseconds response time and a visual angle of 178 degrees.
In terms of device and video codec compatibility, the screens will come with three HDMI and two USB ports, and will be able to play back DivX, FLV/AVC, AVI (H.264), MP4, Mpeg4.3gp, XviD, MOV and MKV files.
