    Robert Pires: Not joining Doncaster
    PIRES REBUFFS DONCASTER SWITCH

Former France and Arsenal star Robert Pires claims to have rejected an approach from npower Championship club Doncaster.
The 38-year-old playmaker has been without a club since his release by Aston Villa last summer.
Pires Tweeted: "Doncaster people called me! I am happy they think I can help them but it's not in my plan to play there."
Doncaster have embarked on a radical transfer policy under the guidance of agent Willie McKay in recent weeks.
In his position as a transfer consultant, McKay is looking to provide manager Dean Saunders with established names currently without a club or out of favour with their current employers on short-term contracts and low wages, providing a shop window for their talents.
Aside from the intended boost on the pitch, Rovers will also benefit from sell-on clauses inserted into the deals for the players they bring in.
El-Hadji Diouf, Pascal Chimbonda and Herita Ilunga are among the names to have moved to the Keepmoat since Saunders' appointment as manager in September.

Lukas Podolski: Over a year left on contract
    SOLBAKKEN EXPECTS PODOLSKI TO STAY

Cologne coach Stale Solbakken is confident striker Lukas Podolski will not ask for a transfer following the shock resignation of club president Wolfgang Overath.
Overath's decision to stand down along with his two vice-presidents has sent a shockwave through the club, with speculation growing that Podolski may feel enough is enough after recently voicing his unhappiness about the unsettling off-field problems.
But Solbakken is convinced Podolski will see out the remainder of his contract and even sign a new one.
"He still has 18 months to go on his current deal and that is enough time for us to prove to him that we can build a good team and he can be the big match-winner in it, even after these 18 months," the Norwegian coach told the SID news agency.
"The media like to speculate a lot about Lukas, particularly when he is playing well."
The first rumours Podolski was not happy surfaced when Solbakken scrapped him of the club's captaincy shortly after taking over as coach in the summer.
However, the Germany international has been in some of his best ever form recently and, despite admitting his disappointment at no longer leading his home-town club out on to the field, he has stressed his relationship with Solbakken is good.
The Germany international has questioned his club's ambition, though, while suggesting he would not be out of place at his former club Bayern Munich.

Sone Aluko: On trial at Rangers
    RANGERS TRIAL FOR ALUKO

Rangers have confirmed former Aberdeen striker Sone Aluko has begun a week-long trial with Ally McCoist's squad.
The 22-year-old has been a free agent and looking for a new club after he was released by the Dons at the end of last season.
Aluko arrived in Glasgow on Sunday evening and has reported to the Rangers training ground to hook up with the bulk of the first-team squad.
The potential move comes as a bit of a surprise as Aberdeen manager Craig Brown felt he left Pittodrie to return to the Midlands to be nearer his family.
"He'll work with Ally McCoist's squad over the next few days as the manager assesses whether or not to offer him a contract," read a statement on the club's official website.
The Nigeria international made 129 appearances for the Dons, scoring 13 goals in total including one in a 2-2 Uefa Cup draw with Bayern Munich.

    Blackburn fans: Planning more protests
    ROVERS FANS PLAN MORE PROTESTS

Blackburn fans opposed to owners Venky's and manager Steve Kean have revealed plans for more protests.
They have announced a 'week of mourning' to mark the death of the club and will lay black and white flowers and wreaths at the foot of the Jack Walker statue, behind the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End.
There are also more demonstrations planned for this weekend's Premier League match at Wigan.
"As supporters, we have been badly let down," organisers Glen Mullan and Simon Littler said.
"We have tried and tried again to open a communication channel to have our serious concerns raised and to date the club has failed to listen to these pleas.
"They have tried to turn supporter onto supporter, whilst continuing to let our club be steered with no leadership and direction.
"More and more supporters are voting with their feet as attendances dwindle, whilst frustration and worry is now at boiling point as the anger rages.
"Supporters do not like being used and their allegiance is very firmly behind the removal of Venky's from Blackburn Rovers."
The club's Indian owners mark their first anniversary in charge this week.
Since they appointed Kean to replace Sam Allardyce last December the Scot has won just six of 32 league matches and only once in 11 games this season.

    Carlos Tevez: Staying in Argentina
TALKS GO ON WITHOUT CARLOS TEVEZ

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez chose to remain in Argentina and not attend a meeting with the club on Monday but discussions have taken place between the two parties.
The 27-year-old had been requested to return to England by City after he flew home to visit his family last week, apparently without permission from his employers.
However, Tevez has remained in South America while discussions take place between his advisors and the club.
"Over the weekend there have been a series of meetings and conference calls," Tevez's representative said.
"Carlos is still in Argentina, however, both sides are kind of in agreement that they want a resolution as quickly and as smoothly as possible.
"Discussions will probably be ongoing for the foreseeable future."
It has been reported that the meeting with City officials formed part of a disciplinary process but Tevez's representatives say they were not aware that was the case.
They also rejected claims coming from South America which said the striker had obtained a medical certificate which excused his absence.
"The meeting that Carlos was asked to attend today and subsequently didn't does not, from our view, form part of any ongoing disciplinary procedure," added Tevez's representative.
"From our side we are not aware of any disciplinary procedure being invoked by City."
City have declined to comment on the latest developments.
Reports Tevez had returned to Argentina began to emerge last Wednesday after he was pictured back in the country.
That was a day after it transpired that the striker would not be appealing against against a club fine for misconduct.
City had found Tevez guilty of refusing to play - one of five breaches of contract - during the Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich on September 27.
He was initially fined four weeks' wages but that was halved following intervention by the Professional Footballers' Association.

    Admir Mehmedi: Attracting interest
    SUNDERLAND FACE MEHMEDI COMPETITION

Sunderland could face competition from Nurnberg for FC Zurich striker Admir Mehmedi in the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old is reported to be one of Steve Bruce's winter targets after impressing in Switzerland.
But Bundesliga outfit Nurnberg are also interested in Switzerland international Mehmedi, who has scored 13 goals in 47 matches for Zurich.
Nurnberg manager Dieter Hecking told Swiss newspaper BLICK: "Admir Mehmedi of FC Zurich is definitely very young and a very interesting striker.
"He will certainly not come cheap at any time."
