Paul Jewell: Hoping to land Wallace

    JEWELL HOPING TO LAND WALLACE

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is hoping to win the chase to sign Murray Wallace after agreeing a fee for the Falkirk defender.
Wallace is reportedly a target for a number of clubs, with Jewell claiming Brighton are among the teams interested in the 19-year-old.
Town are eager to bring Wallace to Portman Road and are set to hold talks with the youngster following Falkirk's Scottish League Cup semi-final against Celtic on Sunday.
"We have had a bid accepted by Falkirk for the lad," Jewell told the club's official website.
"I spoke to (Falkirk boss) Stephen Pressley and he's a lad that we have been watching for a while.
"We face a lot of competition for him. I know Brighton are keen and there are two or three other clubs as well.
"He's got a big game for Falkirk against Celtic on Sunday and then he will be coming down to see us. There is a long way to go yet but we are in there fighting."

Harry Redknapp: Can't see a lot happening

    REDKNAPP EXPECTS LITTLE BUSINESS

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp expects to do little if any business before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday night.
The permanent signing of Juventus loanee Yago Falque has been the only bit of business the Barclays Premier League title chasers have conducted this month despite a host of names being linked with the club.
Christopher Samba, Junior Hoilett, Loic Remy and Bruno Uvini have all been mentioned as possible targets for the Londoners and a number of fringe players are also keen to leave for pastures new.
Redknapp and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy have become famed for pulling off 11th hour deals in the window but Redknapp is predicting little activity in terms of ingoings and outgoings before Tuesday night's deadline.
"I can't see an awful lot (happening)," said Redknapp, whose team face Wigan on the night the window shuts.
"I will probably watch a game on Sunday but not with a real eye on anyone, although I'm not going to tell you which match."
Of all the targets linked with Spurs, Samba has been the most high-profile, but the club have not made a move for the Congolese defender despite him handing in a transfer request last week.
Part of the reason for that has to be the outstanding form of Younes Kaboul this term.
Kaboul, 26, arrived at Tottenham in 2007 but left a year later to join Redknapp at Portsmouth after failing to settle in at White Hart Lane.
He has been a much-improved player since he returned to Tottenham to link up with Redknapp again two years ago and he is now Redknapp's second-choice centre-half behind club captain Ledley King.
Kaboul was one of the few players to emerge from last night's narrow FA Cup win over Watford with any credit and Redknapp showered huge praise on the powerful centre-back.
"Kaboul has been absolutely terrific. That's why I signed him twice," Redknapp said.
"He didn't have the best time when he was here the first time but he was only a young boy then.
"I took him to Portsmouth. He was terrific there and that's why I really wanted him back.
"He showed last night exactly what qualities he has got. He is terrific defensively. "I haven't really had to work on him, it's more about making him believe in himself.
"I have signed him twice, that shows how much confidence I have in him. He has been a terrific influence for us."
Redknapp will be hoping for a much better performance from his team on Tuesday when they hope to get back to winning ways in the league against Wigan at White Hart Lane.
Redknapp has a number of injury concerns ahead of the match, however.
Gareth Bale is a doubt due to a thigh strain, Aaron Lennon pulled his hamstring on Friday night and Luka Modric has been suffering from sickness.
King is also struggling for fitness and could join Sandro and William Gallas (both calf) on the sidelines for Wigan's visit.
Redknapp, meanwhile, will return to Southwark Crown Court on Monday morning to continue his defence against two charges of tax evasion. The Tottenham manager denies both charges.
The trial is due to end on Friday and Redknapp will leave assistant Kevin Bond in charge of training in his absence, but is expected to attend the Wigan game.

Mattias Johansson: Has joined AZ Alkmaar

    AZ COMPLETE JOHANSSON SWOOP

Eredivisie leaders AZ Alkmaar have completed the signing of teenage right-back Mattias Johansson from Swedish side Kalmar FF.
The 19-year-old, who joins AZ for an undisclosed fee, has put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him in Alkmaar until summer 2016.
After unsuccessfully attempting to sign the Sweden Under-21 international last summer, the Dutch side have finally got their man.
"I've finally arrived," Johansson told the club's official website after signing the deal.
"Last summer I was happy to join AZ, but Kalmar wouldn't let me go. Fortunately, it's okay.
"Now I have time to get used to the Netherlands and AZ's style of play. The attacking style of football here fits me perfectly. I hope to enjoy a lot of success with the club."
AZ director of football Earnest Stewart sees Johansson as a player for the future.
"Mattias is a typical AZ player," Stewart said. "He is a modern defender who plays primarily as a right back.
"He was carefully scouted over a long period of time.
"We will give Mattias six months to get used to the Netherlands, the culture, the club and our way of playing. That way he will be ready to step into the first team for the new season."

    Matt Phillips: Linked with move

    HOLLOWAY ISSUES MATT PHILLIPS WARNING

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has reiterated he will only sell in-form winger Matt Phillips if a top Premier League club comes knocking with the right offer.
Phillips has been in solid form for the Seasiders after a short loan spell at Sheffield United ignited his season, scoring seven goals in all competitions since his return to Bloomfield Road in December.
Cardiff reportedly saw an offer for the winger refused earlier this week, while Bolton are thought to have made an enquiry.
But Holloway maintains the 20-year-old's future is at the Championship side unless a high-profile Premier League club come in for him with a big-money bid.
He told the Daily Star: "The future for Matt Phillips is here.
"He knows from me if the top teams come in we will let him know about it and they will pay the right money for him.
"That time has not come yet. Anybody can say they want him but he's ours."
Meanwhile, Holloway insists striker Lomana LuaLua will not be leaving Bloomfield Road until the end of the campaign.
He added: "The plan we had was I would put him back on the map for next summer and he wanted to prove to the chairman he is worth a lot more than he's getting.
"He's in the right place to shine, so why would he want to leave?"

Pat Baldwin: Joins Southend on a free transfer

    SOUTHEND SIGN PAT BALDWIN

League Two promotion chasers Southend have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of Pat Baldwin from Colchester.
The 29-year-old returns to Roots Hall after a loan spell in the 2009/10 season during which he captained the Shrimpers.
Having made 242 appearances for Colchester since joining them in 2002, Baldwin links up with Paul Sturrock's men on a free transfer on a contract until the end of the season.
