David Weir: Will be involved in coaching

    DAVID WEIR RETURNS TO EVERTON

Former Everton and Rangers defender David Weir rejoined the Merseyside club in a coaching capacity on Tuesday - and then immediately played for the reserves.
Everton announced on Tuesday afternoon the 41-year-old had taken up a post at Goodison Park that will also see him eligible to play for the second string.
And with reserves boss Alan Stubbs short of defenders, Weir went straight into the side for Tuesday afternoon's 'mini-derby' at Liverpool.
Weir left Rangers last month to pursue other options and, after training with Sheffield United, has now taken up an opportunity to begin his coaching career with Everton's reserve and Academy players.

The veteran Scotland international made 269 appearances during an eight-year spell at Goodison before leaving to join the Ibrox club five years ago.
Toffees manager David Moyes told the club's website, www.evertonfc.com: "David's returning to us in a coaching capacity.
"He will help out Alan Stubbs with the reserves and he will also play in the occasional reserve game to help support some of those younger players coming through.
"It will be good to have him around the place. He is a great professional and someone all the players at the club can look up to.
"He did great for us when he was a player here and we are looking forward to being able to work with again as he starts out in his coaching career."

Gareth Bale: Would demand a sizeable transfer fee

    BARCELONA WON'T BREAK THE BANK

Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club will not "enter the madness market" this summer in pursuit of fresh faces.
It has been reported that the Catalan giants will once again look to add world-class talent to their ranks when the window re-opens.
Moves for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie have been mooted, with Barca known to be admirers of both.
Bartomeu is prepared to admit that the North London rivals would be welcome additions to the Camp Nou ranks, but insists they have no plans to make a move.

He is aware that sizeable fees would be required to lure Bale and Van Persie away from their current employers, and he claims Barca are not prepared to spend that kind of money.
"Those players are very good, but we always need common sense in any negotiations," said Bartomeu.

"We will not enter the madness market because it is impossible for Barcelona to pay 40 or 50million Euros (£33-42m) for any player.
"This is a decision of the club.
"We can't fight against every club. But we have an advantage in that players want to come and play for Barcelona."
