Canal Panda, Chello Multicanal’s Spanish children's pay-TV channel, has launched all of its live streaming programming via iPad and iPhone.
Explaining its move, Chello Multicanal said that it wants to strengthen the dissemination of its content and for the children's channel the app will enable access to content where the user wants, whatever and whenever. This means that Canal Panda becomes the only children's channel in Spain to broadcast all programming in real time, via Apple devices.
The aim in the short term, according to company executives, is to get 10,000 downloads. Spain, according to recent reports, boasts the second highest penetration of smartphones and highest consumption of video through the terminals.
Canal Panda’s content is designed for children between 4 and 9 years, prices at €1.59 per month, with fifteen minutes free during the first half year.
Said Zulueta: "mobility devices will mean a revolution in the audiovisual world. Users increasingly want to see television content, but the positives of this whole new market they have not cannibalized traditional TV consumption but have fostered, making it the perfect complement to this… we would like to produce exclusive content for smartphones. This will be done in the future," the manager stated.
In another vein, the Director General also revealed that it plans to launch similar applications with Sol Música, the producer music channel.
