Chinedu Obasi: Set for new Schalke contract

SCHALKE TO SIGN OBASI PERMANENTLY

Schalke are to make Chinedu Obasi's loan move from Hoffenheim a permanent one by taking up the option they have to buy the player outright.
The Nigerian attacking midfielder joined the Royal Blues from their Bundesliga rivals in the winter transfer window and he has done enough to convince club bosses to sign him up.
"He is developing well with us," said Schalke's director of sport Horst Heldt.

"Therefore, we have decided to take the option we have to buy him.
"Chinedu is a very important player for us in the attacking midfield, whether it be on the left or on the right.
"We are planning with Chinedu."
The 25-year-old will be rewarded with a contract until 2015 and he is delighted to be staying in Gelsenkirchen.
"I am looking forward to the future with Schalke," he told Sport Bild magazine.

"They are a really big club and a great team who will always be challenging for silverware."
