Joaquin Caparros: Future talk on hold

CAPARROS PUTS FUTURE TALK ON ICE

Highly-rated Mallorca manager Joaquin Caparros insists he will only talk about his future after this weekend's visit to his former club Athletic Bilbao.
Mallorca head to the Basque country having all but secured their Primera Division status last weekend with an impressive 3-0 victory over Racing Santander.
The former Sevilla manager has been linked with a move to Valencia, should Los Che decide to sack their head coach Unai Emery, but the man himself refused to speak about his future until after Sunday's game at the Estadio San Mames, where he was manager between 2007 and 2011.
"I don't want to talk about my future yet," Caparros told a press conference.
"Now I am only thinking about my players, we have a magnificent game on Sunday against Bilbao and after that will be the time to talk."
Mallorca just managed to avoid relegation last season but have defied the odds this term and currently sit in 12th, just two wins off the Europa League qualification spots.
The Balearic Islands side are 12 points above the relegation zone but their manager insists his team will not take their foot off the accelerator in the dying moments of the campaign.
"There will be no relaxation," Caparros said.

"We haven't finished anything yet. I won't let them relax. I am obliged to not let that happen.
"The season is still ongoing and we will take it one game at a time until the end."
Caparros has been boosted by the return from injury of defender Jose Carlos Nunes.
"Nunes is an intelligent footballer with experience," the Mallorca boss added.
"It's important that he is ready for us."
There will be a minute's silence before Sunday's game in memory of Inigo Cabacas, the 28-year-old Athletic fan who was shot dead with a rubber bullet in disturbances that followed the club's Europa League game against Schalke.
Athletic club secretary Javi Aldazabal told AS.com: "He was a member of the club's family and it's important that we all remember him."
Athletic, who drew 2-2 at Granada last weekend and are just outside the Europa League qualification places, have won six out of the last 12 visits by Mallorca.

Iker Muniain misses Sunday's game with an eye injury.

Stefano Colantuono: Was linked with a move

    COLANTUONO CONFIRMS HE'S STAYING

Atalanta fans have received good news ahead of Sunday's game against Chievo with coach Stefano Colantuono confirming he will remain in charge of the Bergamaschi next season.
Colantuono, who guided Atalanta to promotion to Serie A last summer, had been linked with a move away from Bergamo at the end of the season.
However, he said: "I recently signed a contract extension with Atalanta because I believe that this team can fight for bigger aims than just avoiding the drop.
"Bergamo is the ideal place to work. I'm really happy here and hence, I will continue with this adventure."
Atalanta were docked six points earlier this season due to their involvement in a match-fixing scandal.
However, it has not hindered the Bergamaschi too much, with the team having lost just eight of their 32 games so far.
The Bergamaschi head into Sunday's encounter with confidence sky-high after winning 3-1 at Napoli on Wednesday, a result that lifted them to 10th place.

"This win is certainly a huge step forward in our battle to avoid the drop," Colantuono said. "We are extremely happy to have beaten a great side like Napoli.
"Now I hope we can produce a similar performance on Sunday."
Opponents Chievo are one place and two points clear of Atalanta.
The men from Verona lost 1-0 to AC Milan on Wednesday to see their four-match unbeaten run come to an end.
"It was a great performance but unfortunately, people will only remember that Milan won and we lost," Chievo coach Domenico Di Carlo said. "We have to put this defeat behind us and concentrate on our next game, which will be a tricky one.

"However, if we play as we did against Milan, we can bring home three points from Bergamo."
Atalanta will be without German Denis, their top scorer this season with 15 league goals, as he must serve a one-match ban.
Chievo must overcome the absence of defender Gennaro Sardo and striker Sergio Pellissier, both suspended.
