    Gus MacPherson: Left his job

    MacPHERSON LEAVES QUEENS POST

Gus MacPherson has left his job as Queen of the South manager after the club were relegated from the Irn-Bru First Division on Saturday.
A 3-1 defeat against Raith Rovers at Stark's Park consigned Queens to bottom place with 32 points from 35 games, having won just once away from home.
A statement on the club's website read: "The club would like to announce that Gus MacPherson and [assistant manager] Andy Millen have left the club with immediate effect.

"Both the club, Gus and Andy agreed that it was in the best interests of both parties that we make the change now.
"The directors of QoS would like to take this opportunity to thank Gus and Andy for all of their efforts in what has been a difficult season for all involved at the club. We wish them well for the future."
The former St Mirren management team took over at Palmerston in the summer of last year.

    Son Heung-min: Linked with Newcastle

    HAMBURG VOW TO KEEP SON

Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has declared that promising youngster Son Heung-min is not for sale.
South Korean Son is reportedly on Newcastle's radar and his agent recently revealed the striker might consider his future at Imtech Arena at the end of the season.
However, Arnesen has stated he has no intention of letting the 19-year-old leave the club anytime soon.
"He is good. We won't sell him," he told Bild.

After a disappointing league campaign which saw Hamburg struggle in the bottom half of the table for most of the season, Arnesen is looking forward to next term and has lined up a number of transfer targets.
Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Rene Adler is set to sign on a free transfer and Latvian forward Artjoms Rudnevs is finalising his 3.5million euro (£2.8m) move from Lech Poznan.
Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt remains high on Arnesen's short-list but no contact has been made with the Premier League side.

    BRIAN HORTON LEAVES MACCLESFIELD

Brian Horton has parted company with Macclesfield by mutual agreement after failing to save the club from npower League Two relegation.
Horton, 63, returned for a second spell in charge at the Moss Rose last month after Gary Simpson was sacked on the back of 14 league matches without victory.
However, the former Manchester City and Port Vale chief was unable to bring about a change in fortunes and eight more winless games garnered only two points, culminating in Saturday's relegation-sealing 2-0 home loss to Burton.

Glyn Chamberlain, who served as assistant to both Simpson and Horton, will take charge for the Silkmen's final game of the season at Southend and vice-chairman Andy Scott insists work is already underway to put a permanent successor in place after concluding Horton was not the man to mastermind a return to the Football League.

"We need a different set of skills to be competitive in the Conference," he told Macclesfield's official website.
"Our favoured candidate will be someone who knows the game well at that level. We have an excellent set up behind the scenes, which we think will offer an attractive proposition to an ambitious manager. We have some targets in mind and we hope to be able to make an early permanent appointment."

Rasmus Elm: A target for Liverpool

    LIVERPOOL CLOSE ON ELM

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of 24-year-old Rasmus Elm according to reports in the Netherlands.
Manager Kenny Dalglish and chief scout Steve Hitchen travelled to Feyenoord on Sunday to see the AZ Alkmaar midfielder play according to Dutch newspaper De Telgraaf.

However Elm didn't play in the game after becoming a father the night before.
It is thought that the midfielder will cost Liverpool around €7million, and the club hope to complete a deal before he heads to Euro 2012 with Sweden in the summer.
