Spain’s TV Academy urges haste in appointing new RTVE president

Spain’s Board of the Academy of Sciences and Arts Television (ATV) has urged the Government to hurry the appointment of a president at the country’s national public broadcaster Corporación RTVE.
In a statement released today, the academy aired its concern at the current situation of RTVE since Alberto Oliart resigned in uly 2011.
The Academy requests the Government to implement "urgently appropriate mechanisms" for the appointment of a President in the Public Television Radio, "with the aim of ending the internal decay that have denounced their careers."
In turn, the Television Academy requests the Government to the appointment of the President of the Corporation is carried out "with the widest possible consensus" among the parliamentary groups, as was done in the two previous appointments.
