The Sri Lankan television rights for the London 2012 Olympics have been awarded to private channel Maharaja Television Network (MTV).

MTV, along with the radio rights winner Maharaja Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), reportedly outbid the state owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and Carlton Sports Network (CSN) according to Colombo Page.

It will be the first time a privately owned broadcaster has provided live Olympics coverage in Sri Lanka. Traditionally Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation has broadcast events from the Games.
